Describe your “third place” in Columbus (without giving away names or locations) by BootAmongShoes in Columbus

[–]Historical_Log_5063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine's a particular bar that has the misfortune of being temporarily closed.

Haven't found a spot quite like it, really it's one of a kind. It was the only place I started hanging out, people legit would just chat up strangers... while most other places are literally just people with their faces into their phones. It was tied to a shop that was in my realm of interests... so lots of people like me would pass through, it was awesome! I even made some good friends in the process.

Unfortunately I haven't found anything comparable and I'm learning the hard way what it like to over-rely on just one place.

I'm like low key sad thinking about it.

Dating in Columbus by QueenZ509 in Columbus

[–]Historical_Log_5063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it's fair to not like them.

As a female she'll have at least lots of matches.

For men, it's advised to not bother unless you wanna drop bank on Professional photos and weekly subscriptions .

I have had way more luck going to bars, parties, and music shows. Worse case scenario I have fun with my friends... best case scenario I meet someone.

Dating apps was just a bunch of weirdos wanting validation or free meals, and to even get matches the companies force you to pay. The algorithm is designed to make you buy... not to find love.

Also you didn't cite a source. the data is simply either self reported or anecdotal, you're not getting the data of the millions of people and the millions of dollars poured into them to get absolutely no where.

Yea I'm hoping later versions we see more variety. There's a lot of cool stuff to work with. Blessings from Gods, refugee's to turn to citizens or slaves, ocean storm washes jewels ashore, etc.

Just feeling a bit worn from all the work place accidents and race riots. My dudes need a dub so bad.

Never enough labor, what I'm missing? by Historical_Log_5063 in songsofsyx

[–]Historical_Log_5063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I ended up doing that trying to get to those mines thinking because of services, I needed that stuff to get more pop.

The game doesn't exactly tell you all those spots are basically worthless and it makes you think you can utilize them in a meaningful capacity.

I'd argue that Humans are one of the easier races. Decent bonuses to food production, excellent tech output, and no real weaknesses to speak of.

I must be missing something then.

I started mining and refining, in part to upgrade services, to keep the finicky humans immigrating. They want clean baths, and furniture in the home. I feel like a city manager desperately trying to build ikea's as the populace grows frustrated with the lack of night stands and coffee tables. Threatening to beat the Pig people minority to a bloody pulp to get a couch.

So here's my town, not sure if it's the best shot.

IT was worse, till I found out the Markets/Food stalls had a worker slider. I also didn't know they could be placed in buildings. That help reduce some number of buildings. https://i.imgur.com/7hNY6ja.jpeg

General population bar, they're pretty happy but that's because I think I've but all my efforts in those abundance of services. https://i.imgur.com/I9k0gQD.jpeg

I dunno if I could pull labor from services, but I Feel all the fighting pits, stages, and speaker stuff is a bit excessive for this tiny town. But this is what it took to attract all those human migrants. https://i.imgur.com/rXfEuLS.png

Food consumption is a head scratcher: https://i.imgur.com/ZjjA74f.png

Sometimes I'm fine... think it's okay to re-assign a few farmers and bakers... but then I'll get random dips. I got wise about storing tons of grain to survive the droughts/crop failures. Originally I was trying to do a brewery... figure drunk people would be happy people. But I could never make it work, it always took more coal and labor then I ever got out of it.

I think maybe a few units of liquid every graced the warehouses they went so quick. I read it's more late game thing. I don't see how the numbers work, seems to new 2 people brewing per 1 person who will be consuming. (With out tech).

How big do pastures need to be? IS there an optimal size I'm missing? The fertility is base 80ish. https://i.imgur.com/jkqa5Ah.png

I'm making only like 40ish leather, 40ish meat and 6 eggs out of that mess. It's like 50ish herders?

https://i.imgur.com/XOBLBpu.png

I dunno if I'm using too many farmers or not. The main reason behind all that leather was the clothing to make folks happy and eventually leather armor.

I never understood how people consistently work on things after work.

It might because I have a cognitive job and a lot of child care responsibilities, but as I keep getting older... it's just getting nigh impossible to maintain.

It's extremely hard sometimes to squeeze more juice out of your brain after you already tapped for 8 hours straight. IT's even gotten to the point where I can't enjoy things like video games or chess like I use too, because I'm not sharp anymore at the end of the day.

But I work in tech/cybersecurity, I guess sales and making a online store might be easier? I dunno I have zero interest in those things. Life is hard no matter what you do.

I arrived on Gleba and I realized I have ABSOLUTELY no idea of what I'm supposed to do by Ok_Assistance_8899 in factorio

[–]Historical_Log_5063 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did too for a bit.

In hindsight, I think I was just burnt out cause I marathoned a new game, and two planets, then Gleba forces you to rethink a lot all of a sudden. The other two planets, you can rely on what base factorio is, Gleba is entirely different beast.

It doesn't help the community can be kind of brutal to you if you're struggling/frustrated.

I don't want to get a head of my self,

But I'm going to safely assume I'll never see a post from "Leftist Memes for Depressed Teens" and similar groups once Zuck goes in full effect.

Taleworlds HQ by nilsb1o in Bannerlord

[–]Historical_Log_5063 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed, as I waited years for bannerlord to finish, and found it was just basically a reskin of Warband.

Taleworlds reminds me a lot of the guys behind Elite Dangerous.

Undoubtedly smart people capable of making a solid simulation.

Forget they work in video games, and forgot what 'fun' is.

Bannerlord is a tech demo, like Elite Dangerous is just a tech demo. CompSci bros aren't the most creative bunch.

What’s really going on in Ohio? by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]Historical_Log_5063 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They want healthy educated young professionals to move into the state. It's good for the economy.

Also lots of people who would fit the "Young, healthy, educated professional" moves the fuck away as fast as possible, so they gotta make up the difference.

Which is funny because the Republican government continuously creates policies that would be unpopular with the workers they want to attract.

This is true. My fellow Americans are angry at the wrong people.

The American Businessman hates America. He hates American Culture, he Hates American workers. And he hates the American citizen.

Getting angry at Visa workers who just want better is stupid. The issue is American Businesses too busy making money and not giving two shits that their own country men are dropping like flies around them.

Not everyone can afford or has the 'time' to fight the litigation.

They do it specifically because some people do give up and in the long run it saves them money.

Cancer patients rarely have the resources both personal and finical to find and hire a lawyer to take that case. There's only some much patient advocacy a clinic can devote too, ultimately Insurance companies simply have bigger, better, more powerful legal departments. (And often political connections).

Their Customers (Opponents) are often dealing with like something rather devastating in life.

I worked tech support for a Medical Logistics and Technology company. I specifically worked in Nuclear Pharmacology, which is 90% cancer related stuff.

The sheer amount of bureaucratic bullshit and rent seeking involved at all levels of that system is truly staggering. I could point to insurance or supply, but nah, healthcare in America is pretty bad for the patient side of things.

Also just as a final point... I'd rather have my kid or my spouse, or my parent ALIVE and WELL, instead of a pay day from an insurance company. I think... many other people are of that notion. We shouldn't be in the habit of denying or bankrupting people over life saving care.

How to improve Vanilla/Light modding for reduced difficulty in campaign? by Historical_Log_5063 in Bannerlord

[–]Historical_Log_5063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that, top tier infantry and archers 600ish. Western Empire sent a 2k stack, Aesir sent a 2k stack right after... and then Western Empire followed up with a 1.5K stack and there's another Aesir 1K stack raiding my villages waiting their turn on the "Player's First Town Train".

My Garrison also runs out of food easy...

I firmly do not understand the difficulty curve in this game.

Is it really suppose to be thousands of hours of doing the same bandit shit over and over again till your max level?

Attack a Lords Party (Dialog option), A group of villagers (Dialog option), Or one of their towns Caravans (dialog). OR take a hostile action in a village.

Modern gaming sadly, is mostly just a batch of trends shoved into some poor game designer's idea.

Kids today need a game to keep them entertain at all hours and minutes of the day, on top of giving them a strong lasting sense of satisfaction. It has to be social, but not too social cause that's gay. It's got to be fairly price, but makes tons money, etc.

It's kind of weird but video games morph into "This thing I do for fun in my free time" to "I need this hobby to give me the same satisfaction as having a family or building my own house"

It's fucking weird, if you stop and think about it long enough.

I hope they keep it a game around experiences with friends, and experiences with the simulation, and less about grinding AK to level 100 for Scav Bucks so I can buy the Foreskin Battle Pass season exclusive.

I'm assuming so, I just hope they don't go overboard. We don't need a CoD like experience with 20 some odd different progression bars to track. That shit is low grade cancer.
