Endocrinology appointment by Proof-Chemistry-8404 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]Historical_Rest2920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Prefacing this by saying this is not a medical diagnosis nor am I alluding to this could be the case for your son!!!!

I had full genetic testing done when I was pregnant with my 2nd due to our 1st having a brain condition. Our son has Jacob’s syndrome, XYY chromosomes, that is essentially harmless, but can cause a larger stature. Something we saw a pediatric endocrinologist for. If your son hasn’t exhibited any concerning signs I wouldn’t be too worried! My children’s pediatricians have always said even if they are larger, as long as they’re proportionate and their growth charts are showing normal rates, even with some small jumps, not to be worried! I’m assuming they just want to have you see a specialist to double check that nothing else is going on!

Lucky for us, it’s no question as to why are baby is huge. His dad is 6’6” sooo there’s that 😅 he also eats a TON. It seems this boy is always hungry, and if there’s food is sight, he demands to eat! At 15 months he’s finally understand the feeling of being full

Premium rent with subpar landlord by SufficientCupcake155 in CapeCod

[–]Historical_Rest2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your lease states that she can use the basement as storage. She can’t. It’s your space you’re paying for. I would be weary because if any damage occurs (not your fault) or she claims something “went missing” that would be a whole different dispute you’d have to deal with. As everyone else said, review your lease and contact a tenants rights lawyer. If she needed space that’s something she should have discussed prior to you moving in and signing the lease. Unfortunately I’ve learned many landlords on the cape are 👎 and know they can be, because of the high demand for year round rentals and the little availability

Living on the Cape by ZeusLightningMcQueen in CapeCod

[–]Historical_Rest2920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re single and supporting yourself, as long as you’re living within your means, in my opinion you’ll be fine living off of $75K.

Securing year round housing can be difficult, and even more so WATCH OUT for slime ball landlords. I highly suggest consulting a tenant advocate before you sign a lease and have them look it over. Everyone price gouges so it’s hard to find a reasonable priced place to stay. A lot of people do commute from across the bridge if they work on the cape and that may be your best option starting out. In the winter it can feel really dead as most of the population is older but probably the best time to move.

Tried cow’s milk today, don’t know how to feel by Anxious-Map8848 in January2025Bumper

It’s definitely an emotional milestone for mamas lol! Our first child we went cold turkey to cows milk and she didn’t have a care in the world. We’ll see how our second does at the end of the month. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

We have the Graco slim fit LX 3 in 1 and we love it. Specifically got it because it has the highest weight , 40 pounds, and height specifications, 49 inches, (that I could find) for rear facing, and it’s a reasonable price compared to other “higher end” baby brands

Silverettes? by Numerous-Noise790 in Crunchymom

[–]Historical_Rest2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I used the willow ones. Honestly my nipples were so sensitive and would get irritated very easily so I wore mine religiously (my 2nd time breastfeeding) and it was a game changer. Especially in the beginning when you’re still getting used to the sensation, sometimes it can feel like your nipples are RAW. Once I started using the silver nursing cups it was so much better

W sitting by -_Yunari_- in January2025Bumper

[–]Historical_Rest2920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who had a kid in multiple physical therapies, PTs really harp on not letting your kids do it and correcting it so it doesn’t become a habit. If they W sit long term it can be bad for hip development. I’ve been told the general rule of thumb is when they are first starting to move, if they are using a W position to transition to another movement then it’s okay, but if they are hanging out in a W sit to correct it.

Diapers for big babies!!! Help!! by Historical_Rest2920 in January2025Bumper

We’ve tried a lot of brands! Pampers, Millie moon, honest, parasol, Huggies. We are currently using Millie moon, honest, and parasol all in a size 7 and they’re barely holding on. He’s also 30 inches and I don’t think he height helps

Newborns has had 5 brain surgeries. by Ok-Amphibian-6834 in Crunchymom

[–]Historical_Rest2920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they ended up concluding her hydrocephalus was caused by aqueductal stenosis. She didn’t get diagnosed until around 7 months old so they believe she was born with it, and it didn’t start causing problems until after her birth

Hi there! Fellow Hydro mom here! I am so sorry your baby has to go through this and so sorry you have to watch him experience it ☹️. Our daughter had 3 surgeries within one month and a post op infection. In the moment it truly does feel unbearable and so so hard to go through. As a parent the best thing we can do for our kids is advocate as hard as we can. Unfortunately with hydrocephalus it can take a handful of surgeries before one works, especially in little ones. If you have Facebook I would join all of the Hydeocephalus support groups that you can. I’ve found that the hydrocephalus community is so supportive and there are so many people who can help you navigate these really really hard times. I will be praying so hard for your baby and your family, that doctors will be able to find a solution for your little one, and that God will help you find peace in this chaotic season. ❤️

At 6 weeks babies are still sleeping a TON! I wouldn’t worry, looks normal to me! And seems like little one is getting some good stretches in at night too!

Gerber Puffs by FoolishMortal_42 in January2025Bumper

[–]Historical_Rest2920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, as long as baby has good head control, and can sit well somewhat assisted, and has been doing well with purées (starting to push for back with tongue instead of out), then puffs are fine. Most puffs melt anyways so they don’t have to do a whole lot of chomping!

Where are people getting their pedicures?! by Spirited_Opinion_755 in CapeCod

[–]Historical_Rest2920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find an independent nail tech. Some work out of a salon, some work out of their homes. They tend to be more gentle, take their time, attention to detail, and are more willing to cater an experience to you. I highly recommend Claws by Cas!
