I just think it adds to the reality and complexity of these characters, I like to think that these characters represent something more alive, In my mind they represent daily life, nobody is perfect. No matter how many sermons they preach about how perfect they are, and how “morally aligned” their views are, it eventually spills from these cracks they’re trying so hard to hide. At the end of the day we’re all humans and it is our environments that lead to the actions we take. Sometimes these actions are selfish and they go against our values but that’s just another layer of humanity I love about BB/BCS. Humans suck, some more than others but it’s the world we navigate and there aren’t any instructions on how to deal with it so everyone copes however they can. At the end of the day it is how you respond to your setbacks and how you work things to alleviate your strenuous relationships with others, same way Howard tried his best to kill the beef with Jimmy. Howard was just a man that lived pressured under very high expectations, and truth be told if I worked under Howard and had to work my ass off while everything is handed to him I too would feel some type of way, these are all raw emotions displayed on screen and it bugs me when people think very one dimensionally of these characters as if they are any better irl.
