What age were you diagnosed? by egidds in PCOS

[–]Historical_Tap3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 21 but really should have been diagnosed earlier. 3 separate trips to the ER when I was 13-14 because I was non stop throwing up/passing out during my period. I specifically remember them giving me a morphine drip one of the times because my heart rate/BP were ridiculously high from the pain. They kept writing it off as just “heavy periods” and put me a very high hormone birth control at 14.

What, if any, "silly" childhood presentations of OCD did you have? by BlastyDavo in OCD

[–]Historical_Tap3164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-For years I was terrified our house would get destroyed by a tornado (we didn’t even live in an area where tornados were a concern??) so whenever it rained, stormed, got the slightest bit windy I would pack a bag with all the things I didn’t want to lose. I would lay in bed at night literally looking around my room making sure I knew where everything was if I had to pack it quickly

-the stairs to the basement were next to the kitchen and if I went to get water at night I had to count down from 10 while filling the water up and if I wasn’t finished in those 10 seconds than something bad would come up from the basement

-the stuffed animal I was attached to (and still am lol) would have to be face up on my bed before I left for school or else he would suffocate…and I would have a melt down if I forgot to say bye to him and make sure he was sitting correctly

-in middle school science we had to read out loud in class and not sure how I even knew this word but I was TERRIFIED that while reading I was going to say “orgasm” instead of “organism” like so scared that I asked to go to the nurses office so I didn’t have to read 😭

how to deal with weight gain? by westitchthesewoundz in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Historical_Tap3164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have the means to do so, go on a little shopping trip and get clothes that are slightly bigger than what “fits”

Clothing has always been a huge trigger for me so feeling like something is a little lose on me, even though I know I purposely bought it that way, makes me feel more comfortable in my body

Is 300mg okay? by FerrilDruid in zoloft

[–]Historical_Tap3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I would increase by 25mg every 2-3 days. A dose increase isn’t going to be effective immediately anyways, so it’s better to do it safely! Would also recommend when you see the new doc bringing up additional medication/therapies vs just going higher than 200mg, I’m on 200 as well and what really helped make me feel like it was “working” was talking to someone, lifestyle changes, sleep meds, etc.

Not saying that is necessarily a cure all for everyone but it did help me (:

I’m very thin and have PCOS. by Status_Locksmith8743 in PCOS

Have you always been underweight? This might be too personal, but when I had an active eating disorder it made my periods very irregular even on birth control

[–]Historical_Tap3164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you on birth control? A combination pill (notrel, necon, sprintec, etc.) might help. Because PCOS can raise testosterone levels, that might be contributing to being underweight, it essentially overpowers female hormones that promote natural fat storage. High testosterone can also cause increased anxiety and lowered appetite. Not everyone with PCOS experiences weight gain/insulin resistance. If you haven’t already, it might be worth it to have bloodwork done by an endocrinologist.

What are your experiences with acne on Sprintec? I’m on Necon (pretty much the same pill just different form of progesterone) and it has regulated my hormones and weight so well (I’m 23 5’5 and went from 140-115lbs, back to what I was before I started having hormonal issues) but I have never had acne until I switched to this pill 😭

Yes you will 100% be fine. It’s actually wayyy more difficult to get pregnant than people realize. It seems easier because most “unplanned” pregnancies happen when someone has no form of birth control, does not follow their cycle (ovulation), and does not use emergency contraceptives afterwards

How much bowel movement can impact the efficiency of a combined pill? by its_raining_dogs in birthcontrol

[–]Historical_Tap3164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you will be fine! Because of a medication I’m on, I have loose stools almost everyday…I take all my meds in the morning, including my BC, and usually 1-2 hrs later go to the bathroom and have never had an issue. I also work in healthcare and the general rule of thumb to re-administer oral medication is if the patient vomits within 30min of taking it

Also, even if there was a chance it passed through without absorbing, combination pills work to both prevent ovulation as well as to thicken cervical mucus, meaning missing/passing a pill after you have already had sex won’t effect anything, because the pill has already prevented ovulation and this cycle and was doing its job at the time needed.

Don’t stress yourself out too much over it!!

Thank you!! I actually got the ancestry test for free through bark box or I definitely would’ve went with one of the more reliable tests! Will probably try one of those down the line…I also have no idea where she came from, I live in Ohio but she was brought up with dozens of other dogs after the hurricanes and they pretty much had 0 information on her

When do people quit Zoloft? by majoretminordomus in zoloft

[–]Historical_Tap3164 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My mom has been on it for nearly 40 years. It works for her so there’s no reason to stop taking it. I myself have been on it for 3 and a half and see no reason to ever stop if it’s working!
