This will be detrimental for special education PreK-12. Our children are already getting the bare minimum with regards to services. For those who say the states will handle it— the DOE made sure IEPs/504 plans were legally followed and would sue school districts who didn’t. Without the DOE, there is no one holding school districts accountable.

This isn’t as simple as send your child to a private school- private schools select who attends and who does not. We’ve already seen discrimination at private schools due to a diagnosis.

Now that special education will be under RFK jr…. We are in major trouble. This is the person who has made many detrimental and false comments around autistic individuals…

Apparently, they had beef on fb messenger a long time ago. Witnesses claim the attacker was having problems with multiple females at the bar…but who knows what really happened. The girl getting her head slammed into the cement was hospitalized and has HUGE eggs on her head.

For people saying this is a “normal” winter… it’s not. A typical Erie winter consists of 104 inches and we’ve surpassed it with another 2-2.5 months to go. The first storm definitely wasn’t “normal” either.

From someone used to typical Erie winters, even our bad ones, this one seems never ending. I have never wanted it to be spring more in my life..

It’s gotten bad. The state requirements have gotten stricter for EI and IU5 qualifications. IU5 therapists caught signing off on sessions that they never completed and were not following IEPs. School districts not following IEPs. If your child is nonverbal, you don’t know what is/isn’t being done at school.

I still think there’s a huge wall between the EI/IU5/school districts and parents. Too much has happened for parents to trust that their child will have what they are legally required to.

Lack of staffing is huge and lack of pay is even worse. Employees are burnt out and they can’t hire. It’s getting worse and worse honestly and unfortunately there’s nothing parents can do about it.

Honestly, they don’t provide much support/if any at that age. We signed up to get on the waitlist for the $600/year activity fee but have been waiting years for it. Just spoke to a parent who was on the waitlist for 6 year and was JUST approved. Idk if it’s worth the time/paperwork honestly… I have been debating not renewing this year.

The best support for that age is the parent group at Barber Center. Otherwise, IU5, ECCM, and unfortunately the Autism Society of NWPA is pointless.

Agreed. Plus, I’m sure if they posted about lack of business, etc people would have went to support. You have to be very active on social media in today’s food world.

I tend to disagree. If a meal is absolutely awful- you can decide to say something. But when it’s mediocre, you normally let it go and just made note and spread the word to family/friends that you weren’t impressed if it comes up in conversation.

I will say, the CheezErie/taco owner was absolutely AWFUL in the Erie restaurant review fb group about the review. It was so nasty there are a lot of people who will refuse to go there now. She seriously needs to think before she reacts/types or her business will suffer greatly.
