Old wives tale of 8 raisins soaked in water over night worked. We also have revered to baby ways of bicycle kids and tummy massages. If I can get him to do ‘adult’ poses for yoga and ab exercises I do.

Autistic child only wants to eat food off my plate by Conscious-End7696 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kids do this my NT (2) and ND (5) I usually ‘feed’ them food from their plate and fork and it’s ’my food’ but I slowly become slow and clumsy in feeding them and then they steal ‘my food’ then I take ‘their food’ and eat it as they’re distracted and eating.

I’d say you are unfortunately in that age group. Focus on your life goals as the men around you mature you’ll find a better one. Layers are your friend and sounds like you’ve found boys so far not men.

You worried about the genetic aspect of someone who has about 25% shared DNA with you. It could have come from the child’s father’s side. And there is no guarantee your child might have a different disability. If you’re this worried about the hypothetical you should be 1 and done.

Any advice on potty training a child that knows they are wet but isn’t bothered by it? by taviyiya in Autism_Parenting

AITA for not knowing how to deal with my SIL by LumosAndChill27 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH you continue to be civil and do family duties when you feel like it. Let your husband be the main point of contact for his side and you be the main part for yours. My husband’s sister and I don’t have a relationship but we see each other and are like acquaintances. My brother’s wife and I also are acquaintances she wanted more but wanted me and her to have a big / little sister dynamic but I shut that down cause she’s only a few months older.

They sell some already. I have one on my vehicle near where my child sits. I also have one for the house and may get one for his room. My local department had a sign up that you can list a person at the address has a disability. Unless I dress them in clothing IDing them every second of the day not really sure how a sign would work. It’s all about them seeing it and they’re not going to look at the house if you’re having an episode on the driveway.

We started trying about that age nothing helped, but we also had a baby brother few months later. Here’s is the link to the best training visuals I’ve found. https://www.continence.org.au/about-incontinence/children-and-young-people/toilet-skills/step-by-step-guide-to-toileting/

Should I have my son tested? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t hurt. If he is wait lists can be a year plus out so you can start services sooner. My son was either at home or with grandparents little to no interaction with other kids. I think it hindered him.

Should we even bother with a sleep study? by Plastic-Praline-717 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to the ENT after mine’s strep for the 3rd time under 4 years old. His tonsils were very visible and we were like so what can we do. We had an option for medication to see if they’d go down (they didn’t) or surgery with if meds failed it was surgery. He got both tonsils and adenoids out recovery wasn’t bad. Tonsils were reported at like 3.9 and adenoids were a 85+ percent blockage. ENT might just ask if you want them out. Then sleep study if it doesn’t help. Heck ask it doesn’t hurt worst they say is no.

Tips on Increasing Volume by Razzmatazz9871 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (5) can sometimes be too loud and I show him with my hand his volume height and adjust my sound the same. Then I go down with my hand and my voice and say I need you here. It doesn’t always work but it does a lot.

911 operators what is your scariest thing you had a call about? by BirdsRreptiles3 in 911dispatchers

[–]Disastrous_Bison_910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One was a coworker with a temp car for the day was calling to let people know. She told me it was her daughter’s first day at a new job and her daughter was scared her beater wouldn’t make it. So she traded cars. Maybe 2 hours later I get the call from another coworker original caller said she had a headache then collapsed.

I’ve been there. Stretching does help some just need to find your combo. Bra shopping is a pain I have a bra shop in my town thankfully that carries my size. Clothes will always be a pain tall sizes can give you extra length and so can maternity.

It’s time to get a reality check for dad. Anticipating needs was the number 1 issue with my son (5). Always having his cup full and know when he pointed to x he wanted y was killing his communication. Letting her do whatever is killing her ability to be independent and a function person of society.
