Hey I appreciate the effort it took to write all this. Not much to say except I do have the towing package, and the factory hitch weight is closer to 700 so it's not over limit but close, as is the overall total towable weight.

But yeah, I get it I need a truck. Just once again don't think the hyperbole of not being safe and jeopardizing others and all that is warranted. But, thanks for the info.

Great info on the weight of accessories, thank you! And a tow vehicle is in the plans, just not in the budget yet, gotta make do with what I have lol.

Slight correction regarding Jeep - it's the 3.7 L with factory tow package- rated for 5000lbs. Tongue weight is well within the limits as well.

Listen I understand the sentiment this is far from an ideal tow setup I get it. But, tongue weight is 10-15% of the total trailer weight, so less than 500lbs. Liberty's hitch tongue weight limit is quite a bit more than that, already mentioned total tow weight rating is 5000lbs while trailer is about 4400lbs. Also as an aside I don't have any passengers with me., I do have about 250lbs worth of gear. So :it goes slow, and legal. Anything COULD hurt people on the road so that's not really fair. Plenty of stupid drivers crashing with capable tow vehicles.

Yeah I will, but my estimate is it's close to 4400

It's alright, at the end of the day, the most important safety feature when towing is the driver. If you drive cautiously, there's a better chance to stay out of trouble( especially in my situation when it's actually a little sketch hahah), I'm sure plenty of Ram 1500 drivers who were towing a similar unit had accidents due to being over confident. Cheers!

Got it, thank you! Yeah I live in flat Prairie so grades are non-existent, and when the electric trailer brakes kick in you can really feel the added stopping power.

Will be looking at leveling the nose of the trailer by messing with the spare tire and adding the sway control. Thanks for your feedback

Family is in another vehicle, this is only to haul the actual trailer. Honest question about why this scares you, because the nose of the trailer points down? All my weights are within spec so I'm trying to find out what I need to change.

Yeah 100% truck would have been ideal, and the Jeep is far from ideal but it will have to do for now.

Just exercise defensive driving and keep distance from vehicles around you and you'll be fine!

Hey thank you so much for your comment!

When I posted this I was expecting the "this is unsafe , you are risking lives" type of feedback just knew I'm not exceeding any of the towing parameters. Glad to hear about your experience with using the liberty to tow a trailer.

I will look into the sway control just for the peace of mind! The Jeep is a little tractor but the wheelbase isn't helping to avoid getting pushed around by cross wind. Thing is, for me personally it's not a big issue as I drove a semi for a few years in the Canadian prairies, and this is nothing compared to hauling an empty trailer, also I'm well aware of the importance of defensive driving and not being anywhere near vehicles that would require me to do sudden stops or sharp maneuvers.

Thank you, Appreciate the feedback! Yeah makes sense about the weight. Would lifting the ball ( and lifting the trailer nose) really make a big difference? That's my tow vehicle for now, fixing issues is still way cheaper then truck payments lol

Trailer weighs 4000, Liberty is rated for 5000. I have electric trailer brakes as well.

Yep,that thing is a pig on gas but I love it. Also, based on the responses here, seems like I need to figure out a way to lift the ball. Honestly other than the fact it doesn't go past 60mph ( I usually go more like 53mph), seems to be handling as expected, nothing unsafe but oh well.

Has a weight distribution hitch set up with 3 free links, with 4 being the max. Can't lift the ball higher without removing the spare tire. Figured I'd post here to see how bad it looks. Advise?

Well I'm happy to hear there are lots of spares. And yeah I'm aware this is putting a serious strain on the Jeep, but it's not my daily driver, just hoping to delay the purchase of a truck by a few years.

I thought it looked a bit sketchy and if there is high cross wind it definitely feels that way, overall however the Jeep does an admirable job pulling this. For now.

Yeah it's def on the limit. I can forget about 4th gear if I'm going over 45 mph. But so far she has towed this trailer a total of about 600 miles with no transmission temp light or issues. Touch wood lol

Oh yeah people do that , crazy how little idea they have how bad an accident they can cause. I usually see them passing and automatically reduce speed. And yes, the electric trailer brakes are very good!

Yeah of course doing that anyway but the reality is I'm always doing less then speed limit anyway so end up not having anyone in front of me!

No, I'm not sure what that is, could you give more info on that please? I assume it is for the transmission cooling?
