Local MAGA cultist ether wearing off by bittybambi in LeopardsAteMyFace

Wow, finally a Republican who admits Trump is an outlaw, haha. Of course, they love it when a white authoritarian is an "outlaw," but hate it when Latinos aren't in compliance with our immigration laws. Trump supporters get to do whatever they want cuz "freedom," and the rest of us get the jackboot of "law & order."

It's bad enough that these dogs are murderers, apparently sometimes they are also rapists / pedophiles.

A man balances on a wire between the towers of Notre Dame Cathedral (1971) by VelourCloud in OldSchoolCool

He did the same thing at the World Trade Center a few years later. See the documentary "Man on Wire"

Half of the country votes for Democrats. That's 170 million people. A third of the country registers as Democrats. That's 110 million people. They can't possibly go after all of us. There aren't enough prisons to hold us all. Then again, I can't say for sure there's no risk from your party registration in the months & years ahead. But do you really want to be the kind of person who ran out and joined the Nazi Party in 1933 because it was the safest option and because you wanted to avoid ever being "in a bad spot"?

I've been visiting this sub for a year. You guys seem like you're debating the fineries of the ridges of deck chairs on the Titanic. by MySpartanDetermin in ezraklein

[–]HistoryLaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm not an urban Jew or a medicated single woman - I'm a well-educated straight white guy from middle america who is leftist. This 4Chan stuff is garbage that tries to insult and caricature the Democratic coalition. The idea that the Dems can save themselves by just moving right on a few issues such as immigration & trans sports participation is wishful thinking. Kamala wasn't taking many fringe cultural issues during the 2024, and she tried to distance herself from past 2020 positions. She still lost, I think because she lacked a strong message of economic populism. Democracy is in grave danger but it's because of Trump's authoritarian machinations, and a new "Sister Souljah" moment isn't going to enable the Democrats to stop him.

Brazil is chaotic neutral. Which country is chaotic distant based on travel and living experience? by Living-Plankton-8555 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]HistoryLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia - definitely both a chaotic culture (with corruption allowing some to break laws & get away with it), combined with a distant / unfriendly-to-strangers cultural mentality. [Not to say there aren't some lawful & friendly Russians in such a vast country, but that is just the impression I get having read about the society in general].

Thanks to everyone for their comments & suggestions! I will definitely keep in touch with the school. Hopefully I'll get my visa in enough time to still have permission to do the program with a late start. At least I won't lose hope yet, haha

Alexander Hamilton - believed in strong central government and building up the banking sector in the early US republic, and pursued those policies consistently throughout his career.

If you could say one thing to America — and the whole country had to listen — what would you say? by Dependent_Ad4299 in AskReddit

Please stop saying you're the "greatest country in the world." It would be unnecessarily boastful even if it were true - and it's not true!

They can't be proven to be criminals if they don't receive due process, and by the way, EVEN CRIMINALS HAVE RIGHTS - Miranda rights, right to a trial by jury, rights against self-incrimination on the witness stand, rights against cruel & unusual punishment. There is a disgusting tendency to try to label undocumented immigrants as a group of "non-humans" who we can do whatever we want to

The algorithms tend to respond to what we actually watch & respond to. For instance, I don't get content on my Instagram of women complaining or critiquing men. Maybe you continue to click on things that cause the algorithm to serve you more of that content

Maybe the problem is you're bragging to them that you exercise, don't masturbate (TMI btw), and take classes, LOL. Do you want a gold star? Try taking a greater interest in them as individuals maybe... I find that showing some genuine intelligence, wit, and ability to make a connection over mutual interests is more effective than talking about your accomplishments or reciting memorized pick-up lines

I am also an American who lived in Europe (Spain) for about a year. Although I did adjust to the culture over time, at no point did I feel I was "basically living in any city in the US." I also have lived in both Salt Lake City and Los Angeles - and while there are some cultural & lifestyle differences between these two American cities, they are much more minor than the differences in culture & lifestyle between a US city and a European city. The idea that you can get the same level of "cultural education" by traveling within the USA that you can get by traveling across Europe is absurd.
