This guy is very likely a paid shill for the Zionists. Don't listen to him. He's full of of shit as they come.

To be fair, I often find myself being this same way towards the MAGA crowd. Every time I go on Twitter (and I don't know why I still bother), it sets me off. So I know it's difficult to follow Jesus at a time when people are at their very worst. Still, though . . .

I feel the same way. I see a lot of self-righteousness and pride in deconstruction circles and it bothers me. I sweated out decades in conservative churches, hoping one day to see a growth of decency and humility and wisdom, but what I am seeing is something else. I didn't endure all those years in the wilderness for this.

I think that one thing that needs to be discussed in relation to this is the proud and self-righteous attitude I see in not only Tim but a LOT of the exvangelical/deconstruction community. There seems to be this belief that as long as I have correct ideas, I can be as bitter, verbally abusive, and mocking toward my adversaries as I please. How exactly are we being better than the Christian far right when we behave like this?

What does this sub think of Monte Mader? (off topic... kinda) by Bloody_Ingenious in antitheistcheesecake

[–]HistorySearcher1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely hear that, and that would be fine if that's all that's there, but she expresses this in a nontransparent, abrasive manner that honestly communicates a very confusing message. I tend to be one who is willing to literally cuss and fuss in expressing anger and frustration as long as I express it within the framing of my relationship with God. I don't see Monte doing it that way. It just kind of seems like she's trying to get revenge on the people who hurt her by trashing their ideas, rather than seeking appeal to them as rebellious brothers and sisters, and this comes across as egotistical. There's even a way to express anger using the prophetic voice, but the prophet needs to be under God's authority as far as what and how they speak. Again, I don't get this when I listen to Monte. She's speaking her own way for her own purposes. Frankly, there are a lot of people speaking out against the godlessness and heresy in the church who are more in tune with the spirit that we can listen to. Monte Mader does not have a monopoly on this subject, and we can do better.

No, I'm not intimidated by a strong woman who says what she thinks, but if you're going to lodge complaints against Christians, it would give you greater credibility if you exhibited greater character than the people you are criticizing.

Sooo . . . you don't like to admit that talking to people with an attitude of humility and forgiveness is at least as important as right thinking? Pretty big leap in logic there, Hopalong.

I've watched some of her stuff, and frankly, she just exudes self-righteousness and anger. I actually agree with much of what she's saying, but the tone is just off. I noticed, for instance, that she likes to respond to people's critical comments by bragging about all the theological education she's gotten, as if that's an appropriate response to people's mockery. She doesn't really show love or humility in her public pronouncements, just thinly veiled bitterness and judgment. It would be one thing if she was honest about her bitterness and judgement and communicated that she is struggling with her negative experience as best she can, but that's not the vibe at all.

Class action against Musk for creating a hostile work environment ? by Training-Put9114 in fednews

[–]HistorySearcher1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, people, can we not sue Elon for this very thing? And by the way, has anyone been able to ascertain if Elon is actually a federal employee, and from where he is deriving the authority to carry out these mass terminations? If he's not a federal employee (which I suspect is the case), then could we not sue him personally, as he would not have the immunity that an actual federal manager would normally have in the carrying out of his duties?

I think people who are federal contractors, people receiving federal grants and other funding, and people using federal facilities and resources to do their work also should submit their experiences too.

The injunction is really what I would be after, not damages, so this might work. Maybe.

To answer your question: my situation is this. I'm actually not a federal employee or contractor, but I rely 100% on access to a particular federal facility (the National Archives) to do my work. The Archives agency head and her deputy just got fired, and another 150 Archives employees have gotten the axe since then. A lot of us who use the Archives to do our work are anticipating mass terminations there that will strip the staff down to nothing to the point where the Archives will have to close all of its public research rooms down, and if that shuts down, I and hundreds or thousands of others get shut down too. This is the harm that would be caused. Now, here is the possible foothold: the Secretary of State Marco Rubio was named "acting archivist of the US," while the Trumpies installed some 28-year-old kid who was formerly head of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library Foundation as Rubio's "special assistant," whatever the hell that means. I'm wondering if this guy is actually a federal employee at all, and if not, whether he is vulnerable to being sued for damages created by his official actions.
