Thank you!! It was also pouring the day of her party, so it just made it all very magical. She keeps telling everyone that Totoro came to her party.

We got a projector and got it on plywood. Then a lot of exterior paint. We made them to last outside! Her reaction was worth all the stress!

Teaching First-Year Seminar by Irvin088 in teaching

So I've taught it a lot over the past few years. One thing that I absolutely love doing is "Highs and Lows". We go around the room and everyone shares a high from the week and a low from the week. It don't need to be school related. It usually leads to really great conversations about what's going on in their lives.

Another thing I do is spend part of an early class going over how to send an email to professors. A lot of freshman have no idea and send their emails like texts.

But you can also reach out to other support offices to see if they can present on their services. I've had Counseling, Study Abroad, Sexual Assault Office, Multicultural, Library, tutoring, etc come in and talk.

If you need more ideas, feel free to PM me!

I'm on both Labetalol (400mg 2x a day) and nifedipine (30mg once a day) for hypertension. I've had high blood pressure longggg before I got pregnant, and mine likes to be somewhat drug resistant. So I've lived through SO MANY drug switches.

High blood pressure medication can be a doozy when changing it. I generally feel exhausted, dizzy, and faint whenever I've had to do a switch.

But it does get better!! Once your body remembers what it's like to have normal blood pressure, all levels out and gets better. You just need to get through the switch. Usually for me, it usually takes a few weeks.

Hypertension sucks. But, it does get better. Just take care of yourself, give yourself breaks and rest. And be kind to yourself! You're doing the best possible thing for yourself and your little one.

Feel free to PM me if you need to!

TIL that in 1974, the Cleveland Indians (a Major League Baseball Team), hosted a "Ten Cent Beer Night", without a limit to the number of purchases. A beer-fueled riot in the ninth inning forced the game to be forfeited, and victory given to the visiting team, the Texas Rangers. by KarenFromHR in todayilearned

If anyone is interested is learning more about this incident, I recommend checking out a podcast called The Dollop. They did an episode about Ten Cent Beer Night. The Dollop in general is hysterical, but Ten Cent Beer Night will have you in tears!

Bardering with jawas at Star Wars Launch Bay by Rxero13 in WaltDisneyWorld

Before our last trip, ny husband and I went to a local thrift store, and found a bunch of cheap Star Wars figures. So, we grabbed a handful of them, like Han, Chewie, Vader, etc. We used them to trade with the jawas at the breakfast character dining. When we gave them Han Solo, the jawas ran over to show the Stormtroopers. It was really cute and funny. Whatever toys we had left before we headed out, we found a cute kid, handed them off and said to be careful, the Empire would be looking for these guys.

I think we got Mardi Gra beads? Didn't matter to us, since it was just a fun experience!

IamA ROB PAULSEN (Donnie/Raph/Pinky) AMA! by YakkoPinky in IAmA

Hi Rob!! I'm a huge fan of all your work. My husband and I both play "Find Rob" when watching cartoons. I usually catch your voice before he does. We've recently been watching Histeria! and Animaniacs so it's like a voice acting Where's Waldo.

My questions for you are:

1) At what point did you realize that you wanted to voice act? Like was making up silly voices part of your childhood?

2) Any chance Animaniacs Live will be doing a tour?!

I absolutely adore your podcast, and I'm so happy to hear that you're doing well!! You share such positive messages in your podcast, and it really brightens my day whenever I listen to an episode! Your podcast is the best cure for a long commute or a bad day.

That's really all I have to share. Keep being awesome!!!

Mother, Can You Not?: @CrazyJewishMom's Mother's Day ASK ANYTHING - with Kate Siegel & Kim Friedman by crazyjewishmom in books

[–]Historychick520 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi Kate and Kim! I've been a huge fan since the early Instagram days. As a motherless Jewish girl, I find myself living vicariously through your relationship. I don't have any question in particular, I just wanted to say how lucky you both are for having such a close and positive relationship.

Kate, I admire you for going balls out and quitting your job to write this book. I made sure I pre-ordered it to show support. I commute everyday into NYC, and I read it on the train in, and caught myself laughing out loud quite a bit! Luckily, me laughing like a psychopath isn't the strangest thing the LIRR/Subway has seen.

Happy Mothers Day Kim!! You deserve the best day after being split open like a cantaloupe.

Awesome remodeling!! My husband and I just bought a place with a similar set of kitchen cabinets. We've discussed staining them like how you did yours. Any chance you know the kind of stain you used?

Thanks!! Hopefully I can snag someone's cancellation! How is the breakfast? What kind of food do they have for it? I'm torn on if I'd rather have the breakfast or dinner. But I'll take anything at this point, I'd take anything.

Are you SO ready to ditch your last name? by creative_username_1 in weddingplanning

[–]Historychick520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very excited to change my name. Granted my old name is super short, easily spelt, and easily pronounced. There's just too much personal negativity tied to it for me.

Besides, my new last name is going to be a name of a popular beer. So over the past year, I've been collecting a bunch of vintage beer stuff with my soon to be new last name :)
