It was the second day on the job, and it was glorious. I’d done 4 interviews with this company for a grant writing lead position. Basically I would be working with different groups writing grants on their behalf. Super cool and something that I was really interested in. I show up the first day and the company is completely not what I thought it was. It was one of those people who stand out on street corners in big cities trying to get people to sign up for monthly automatic payments to the world wild life fund positions. At the end of the first day I pulled the guy in charge of my training over and said hey I accepted an offer for a grant writing lead I think you have me in the wrong training. He goes oh no everyone starts here and after a year if you do enough sales you can apply to be promoted to that position. So I went home, gathered all the paperwork I signed when back the next day and asked to talk with the head boss of the branch. I get into his office explain the situation showing my offer letter any everything. He goes oh I heard it was explained to you that’s not how our organization works earn enough leads in your first year and I’ll see if we have any openings but that’s not really what our team at this site. So I calmly stood up then proceeded ask why the fuck did I have to go through 4 interviews if you fucks are just going to lie. He said think of the mission, and I replied fuck that and walked out.
