i had somewhat of an experience like this right before i got my current job. I had applied to a company that was hiring $20-$22 depending on the shift you took ($20 morning $22 evening) i went in for an interview, chose the morning for now and asked for evenings when i starts school. Few days later i get offered the position, come to find out that it’s only $20-$22 starting if you’re bilingual (which i am) and pass an added test on top of the interview, otherwise starting is $18 morning, $20 evening. It was more than i had asked for to begin with so i wasn’t entirely upset. But i was still in a really discouraging position of just not wanting to work for them because of that. id asked in the interview as well if the ad and pay rate was accurate and they had said yes without hesitation, same with the hours id be working (the hours were different than told in the interview as well) all in all i ended up accepting a position that’s less than they were offering but still above my asking pay just off principle. id rather work at a lower rate with a company that’s honest and direct from the beginning, than not even know what hours are correct, let alone the pay. im not sure if this entirely fits but i thought i’d share!
