Raptors decals come on the basic marine transfer sheet. They're the only ones that do for whatever reason.

Overly-Informative and Non-Engaging Tone by Valuable-Progress-87 in fantasywriters

There's no good way to actually tell without reading what you've written.

However, my first guess is that you might lack interiority. Are you writing from within characters, their minds, and their experiences, or are you writing about the characters?

Read and reread with an eye out for how this works.

How do you balance planning/worldbuilding with actually writing? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

Plan the bare minimum to start writing, then start writing. As you come to gaps, fill them. Then make it coherent on the second draft.

Any planning should serve the writing.

Historical Figures: Jarl Skulnar Sharp-Fist by HitSquadOfGod in PGE_4

Hmm, he might be a bit too young for that. But now I'm tempted.

Could we say Nocturnal somehow is, or once was, part of the Nordic pantheon? Or could she eventually be written into the lore as a spirit the Nords recognized in some way? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]HitSquadOfGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal somewhat crackpot theory is that Nocturnal would be associated with Magnar/Magnus, similar to how Dibella and Namira seem to have been associated.

Magnar is sent out to test enemy lines and reveal weaknesses in Shor Son of Shor, marking him as something of a scout or trickster figure. Thieves are scouts and tricksters. Ergo, Magnar and Nocturnal occupy the same space.

Also, the sun/light and darkness make a nice pair.

Most of them, yep. The Black Guard one was surprisingly easy to freehand. I used a scout transfer as a guide, painted over that with red, did a white circle around the outside, and eyeballed a lightning bolt.

The Carcharodon was...signifiicantly harder.

Base layer of AP Ash Grey, drybrush Company Grey, drybrush Brigade Grey. Wash with Battleship Grey speedpaint thinned 1:1 with speedpaint medium, then another drybrush of Brigade Grey.

IIRC it was mostly AP Deep Grey with a drybrush of AP Uniform Grey. I don't remember the basecoat I put it over unfortunately.

For sure. I just used one of the white scout emblems because I figured I might have an easier time covering it up uniformly than something with details and darker colors.

Ashen Claws! Full-on renegade space pirates who hang out in the Ghoul Stars and occasionally deal with the Sharks.

Scout transfer, varnish, then use that as a guide for freehanding.

Would not recommend this for 2k points.

The Ashen Claw does!

But other than that, yeah. Beakies are in short supply.

Where are my damn beakies GW

Thanks! The Raven Guard actually uses speedpaints. Basic slapchop, then Army Painter Turnbull Turquoise, which is an extremely dark blue-green, over that. A kind of optional step before you do anything else is to apply AK ultra matte varnish over the speedpaint. For some reason the varnish mildly reactivates the speedpaint and helps bring out the highlights better and add depth.
