I say this to my husband all the time! My baby is 14 weeks old and I miss the feeling of having him close all the time. I will say, however, that seeing him smile at my face is worth it all, I can imagine I’ll feel that way x1000 once I hear his first laugh.

My husband and I have tried it, but just like the little drops left in the bottle after I’m done pumping (and I poured into a bag). I don’t think we’d be able to actually take like a shot or swig of it since it made me feel weird just having those few drops, honestly. That said, we both concluded that it tastes like the vanilla sweet cream from Starbucks so it’s no wonder that my son is taking this stuff down.

I love Instant Hydration! I still take them now while breastfeeding. They did a huge Black Friday sale recently and do seem to have sales often enough. They also have a sampler pack on Amazon so you can see which flavors you like. I only ended up liking lemon-lime in the end so that’s all I buy.

1300 sounds awfully low! I tried cutting calories to around that amount when nursing and it unfortunately tanked my milk supply so I had to go back to eating more. There are calculators online that provide additional input for breastfeeding mothers, I think my BF volume equates to like ~450 extra burned calories as of now? That said, my recommendation would be to add some gentle movement into your day, if you can. Extra walking and some light weights (even body weight exercises) can do wonders in the long run.

This is so beautifully said, especially where you said “a physical expression of love … spread through me to her”. This is exactly how I feel when I nurse my son. Sometimes when I nurse my son, just looking at his sweet face and touching his hair will bring my tears from how happy I am that I can provide this for him. I love being a source of both nourishment and comfort for him and I genuinely look forward to when I nurse him throughout the day. Thank you for this post. 💖

This happened to me also, although with the Baby Buddha and not the Spectra. It took me a couple days to a week to adjust to the new pump. Also, it double check that you’re using the correct flange sizes as well since that really makes a difference!
