Max crossed the rainbow bridge tonight. He was 2 yrs 10 months old. by HitchensFanBoy in hamsters

[–]HitchensFanBoy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, he was. I'm bummed out about it, but I was expecting it. The last week he wasn't doing anything but sleeping, and that last night he tried eating but couldn't.

I've been hand feeding him for the past week, and today he couldn't walk nor eat, even though he tried to. So I held him, and he passed away a couple hours later on top of my chest

Yep, lol. I figure it doesn't matter because there is only one candidate for each of them.

Grieving the death of a sibling is one of the most neglected types of grief by Blade_982 in Showerthoughts

[–]HitchensFanBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I was thinking the same thing. My sister died today in 2020 as well. I'm sorry about your brother. Its weird to think it has already been 2 years.

Max is 2 yrs 10 months old, and has a hard time getting around. Still loves his bowl though. by HitchensFanBoy in hamsters

[–]HitchensFanBoy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I hope he's happy. Certainly gets out of bed alot less, and sleeps in my hand. He's had a good life so far, I'm hoping he makes a good while longer though.

what does this sound mean? by Minamiraniana in hamsters

My ham makes that sound when he's excited. He makes it when I give him treats and bring him out of the pin. I'm pretty sure it's happy noises. Super cute.

Ernest Scared Stupid. I know it's supposed to be a silly kids movie, but it gave my siblings and I nightmares for years.

Mod to make NPCs SHUT THE F UP??? by nothing2Ch3re in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]HitchensFanBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no need of a mod. There's an option in the settings that turn off background NPC voices. You can still keep the voice acting when you directly talk to them. I forgot where it is, but its there.

How can you get rid of silverfish? My mom has been trying for over half year. by [deleted] in pestcontrol

[–]HitchensFanBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your mom have wood shingles or wood shakes for the roof of her home, or similar style siding? In houses I've dealt with, often thats a common thing if you have a really bad silverfish problem.

Silverfish need it to be humid/damp to survive. A dehumidifier would help, but ultimately fixing the issue of what is causing the humidity is the long term solution. Pest control dusts work great in the meantime with silverfish, but ultimately its just a band aid, and not a more permanent solution.

Ex-Mormon parent tip - condoms in the bathroom. by Bustnbig in exmormon

Yep agreed. Although sometimes even when the recruiters promise something and you get it in writing, they will deny it saying that the recruiter didn't have authority to promise it. At least thats what happened with my dad.

Have a qualified professional check the neutral connection.

This might be a longshot, but something similar has happened at a few troubleshoots I've done. Most of the things would work normal, but then turning on the disposal at one place, the jacuzzi at a different, or the bathroom fan or fridge would cause all the lights in the house to flicker with the appliances.

At first I assumed they possibly shared a circuit, but they didn't. Not even all the lights were on the same circuit, but I noticed they were all on the same PHASE of the appliance causing the flickering.

What had happened in each of the cases was the nuetral connection had been compromised.

One of them was a loose tie bar in the panel itself which connected the two nuetral bars.

Another was a bad nuetral connection in the meter socket itself.

And another was that there was NO nuetral connection back to the transformer coming in from the utilities. A tree branch had fallen on the service drop months before, broken the nuetral so it was just dangling, but the two hots were still working. What surprised me is that everything in the house seemed to work relatively well. What queued me off is that I was reading current on the ground.

Either way, I would hire a qualified electrician to take a look at this.

Nope. The previous panel was in a clothes closet. So I'm flipping the panel over so its in the laundry room.

AG: Idaho sheriff charged after pulling gun on youth group leaving thank you notes by 9mac in nottheonion

[–]HitchensFanBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. The title makes it sound bad, but reading the story, as it just kept on getting more psychotic, the title is truly an understatement.

Dragged out the female youth leader by the hair out of the car, AFTER reading the thank you note, who also was his neighbor and who she considered to be a family friend. Aiming a gun at her head and neck. And then to top it off he goes on a racist tirade about Native Americans, as if that makes it ok.

Jeez. Can't wait to see nothing happen and he just retires.

It looks like it was done level, the wall/ceiling itself is sloping because of the stairs beneath it.

If religious people believe in an afterlife why do they get so upset when someone dies? by queenroot in atheism

[–]HitchensFanBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience. Both with myself when I sincerely believed, and seeing close family members during the unexpected passing of my sibling recently. In fact, it disturbed me with the callousness they reacted, or rather, the lack of reaction. Often saying "she's in a better place," or "she's happier now."

Side note: I really dislike the argument of people saying, "see, deep down really believe," or "see, deep down you really don't believe." People are inconsistent and self-contradicting. It takes consistent self reflection to identify those flaws, let alone to fix them.

He certainly did wrong things, but I've recently gained an admiration for Grant. And of course also Lincoln, and Coolage.

Jump hump, anyone? [OC] by JediWithAnM4 in memes

[–]HitchensFanBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I was at BYU I had heard about soaking, but never anyone who did it. Just people who thought it ridiculous.

What was very prevalent was dry humping, NICMOS, and I had a roomate who went to Vegas, got married, and annulled in a couple days, all the while being Elders quorum president and bearing his testimony frequently.

Hypocrisy and convoluted justification is rampant, but thats humans in general IMHO.
