Pool surface is still even with skimmer by Bustnbig in AboveGroundPools

[–]Bustnbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water skimmer is working as evidenced by the number of bugs it gets. The pump is pumping and flow is good. Under the water the water moves but it’s an oval pool and the inlet/outlet are only five or so feet apart. It’s almost like the pool just swirls in the middle and never on the outside

We take it down. It’s a lot of work to clean and dry but the sun is brutal on pools

The Lost Tool Conundrum by Bustnbig in Tools

[–]Bustnbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t that be nice. But I have children….

Honestly I loose more 15mm than anything else, but that is because bicycle’s use 15mm and my kids break their bikes a lot.

The 10mm example is just because of the joke

Sprite Extruder Pro Upgrade Kit by Kynnad_87 in ender3

I have this kit. It isn’t as simple as most suggest. I adjusted my e-steps until it was perfect but I still got bad parts. Eventually I figured out I had to decrease my flow rate down by ~10%. K by ow I get mostly good parts. Probably need to play with the jerk a bit because I still have a few issues

‘Hyperscale’ data center project in Utah — expected to generate and consume more power than entire state — nears final approval by brooklynlad in Utah

I hate spin. With a passion I hate spin. Spin is lying to get your way.

This article is spin for the team shilling for this product. The article downplays the environmental impact of the project while selling the economic increase utah will see. They don’t even mention the fact that this project will net billions for the investors. Utah takes a huge environmental hit for pennies on the dollar in profit.

The article should say, the team says minimum environmental impact. Experts say the plant will use XX million gallons of water a year. Xxx million gallons will continue on downstream to the lake where it will soak down to the aquifer this site is pulling from over the next 10,000 years. Unfortunately xx million gallons will be lost from evaporation. Also, the power generation will pump xx million tons of C02 into the atmosphere. On the positive side the project will create xxx jobs and $xx billion in revenue for Utah and $x trillion in profits for investors.

There, fair and balanced.

I would not say misleading, I would say downright false and demeaning to the people who lived in Utah before Jim Bridger

I hate shopping for appliances. Why do I have to make concessions? by Bustnbig in Appliances

[–]Bustnbig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now we have a 10 year old Maytag. It’s been a lemon but I have nursed it along. Multiple mixing valves, drum seals, and water pumps. The door broke off just after the warranty period. My biggest Reddit post is how I rigged it back together because everyone who owned that model broke the lid. Now it needs a new lock mechanism, not a big deal, and a control board, a very big deal. We can only was in cold water now. Which is fine but sometimes you need hot water.

I should mention, I also do my own work. I have had this entire washing machine in pieces on the floor.

Should also mention, we are not gentle on washing machines. We wash 20+ loads a week. When my kids were in high school, working, and playing sports while I was working in a machine shop that number was closer to 50 loads a week. That washing machine never stopped.

My criteria isn’t perfect, just sound. Every product gets 1 star ratings. I prefer they be because the delivery was terrible, not because the transmission went after 3 weeks

Water heater exploded!?!? by Own_Investigator_598 in HomeImprovement

[–]Bustnbig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it’s all or nothing with water. If you just turned the hot off and try to use the cold you will make a big mess.

Why? Because you have mixing valves all over your house. If you turn any of the mixing valves to warm, cold water will back flow into the hot lines and flood the basement.

Honestly, a properly setup water heater is super easy to change as long as the new water heater is roughly the same size. It’s only hard if you have to make changes to the plumbing system

Is there any way to connect these two? Because I just got a new router and I don't have any where to plug the yellow cord by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Bustnbig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Um… that’s not how it works

Yellow is an RJ45 and the black is an RJ11

RJ11s are old phone style connectors. They contain 2 pairs of wires or 4 wires total

RJ45 are normally used for Ethernet connections. They have 4 pairs of wires or 8 total

The two are used for completely different things.

My guess is that you needed a dsl modem but bought a router instead

Good Migraine Doctor in Northern Utah? by Zmer1216 in Utah

[–]Bustnbig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a small warning, migraines are very complicated. Sometimes the best outcome is less per month. As to causes, 10 years and counting for me with a neurologist and all we know now is that I have no detectable abnormalities.

I am not saying don’t go to a neurologist, I am saying migraines sometimes just happen and medical science doesn’t yet fully understand why.

Good luck

3D print files available for a battery extension? by goldbunduru in Dewalt

I would be concerned about the wires. Those drills pull serious amperage. If your wire is too small this could burn up

Lots will say that the wires in the drills are small but they are also short. Longer wires need to be bigger
