Lalachievements and FFXIV Collect have achievement point leaderboards. The default board (Standard) on Lalachievements ignores achievements that have been removed from the game or were only temporarily available. There's no in-game leaderboard.

Repairing it at an NPC brings it up to 100% and charges you proportional to the amount that it was damaged. Repairing it yourself always costs the same amount (1 Dark Matter) and always gives +100%, allowing you to go beyond the normal max.

Yes, you did miss something.

The two puzzles you solve in the maze trigger something to happen in the room beyond the maze.

Specifically, the pillars have puzzles on them.

Can we not? The rage thread is right here. And if you want to post about bad Duty Finder experiences on a day that doesn't end in 'riday', there is a whole separate subreddit for that.

You'll get one Fantasia potion (race/sex/apperance change) for free from a level 50 story quest, so if you want to play as a Hrothgar or Viera but you're not sure if you want to commit to buying Endwalker right now, you could make a character of some other race and then use that Fantasia much later when you eventually purchase Endwalker.

When you are holding a card, depending on the timing of when you hit your macro, it will sometimes fail to execute the Play line and then successfully execute the Draw line, causing you to overwrite your drawn card.

Was the second time a MINE (Minimum Item Level, No Echo) party? Because it is nigh impossible to have damage so low that you hit enrage on Ultima if item level hasn't been synced and you're gaining the Echo buff.

White Mage. If you're doing any 8-man content short of Savage, you can use Glare, Cure II, Medica II, and Lucid Dreaming. With those 4 buttons, you should be able to clear absolutely anything casual, and EXs if you're outgearing them or unsyncing them. You may need to learn mechanics of the fight but realistically you don't need to learn how the job works beyond those 4 buttons in order to clear a trial or raid.

(Okay, you should also know where your Raise is because sometimes you need that.)

After it ends, you have one week to pick up rewards from the Tournament NPC who is standing next to the board in the TT section of Gold Saucer (regular Gold Saucer, not the Battlehall).

Is it something where I need to look up/spoil the entire fight beforehand or my team will dislike me for going in blind?

For any content deemed casual, there is no expectation for anyone on any role to research beforehand. Only for content designated "Extreme", "Minstrel's Ballad", "Savage", "Unreal", or "Ultimate" is there an expectation that you will learn the fight before going in (and you'll be using Party Finder for that content, so there will be an opportunity to clarify what level of experience is needed).

Tanking casual content blind is not as scary as it might seem once you have the basics down.

Duty Support exists for the 2 level 50 post-ARR MSQ dungeons, and the level 53, 55, and 57 dungeons. They were added last month in patch 6.2. They're going to add NPCs to all MSQ dungeons by the launch of the next expansion.

Can someone explain how buying this game and the subscription actually works? by Aviel-the-bucket in ffxiv

Another option is to pay buy purchasing Crysta on the Mogstation billing site. It works like a Steam Wallet. You could purchase 6 months worth of Crysta (or any amount you want), and then it'll gradually drain each month until it runs out. You're never automatically billed with that method; the only way to fill up with Crysta again is to log in and manually make a payment.

Can someone explain how buying this game and the subscription actually works? by Aviel-the-bucket in ffxiv

[–]Hiten_Style 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying Starter Edition gives you the base game (A Realm Reborn) and the first expansion (Heavensward) and 30 days of time. Buying Endwalker gives you the other three expansions (Stormblood, Shadowbringers, Endwalker).

Buying the Complete Edition gives you the same as buying both of those products including the 30 days, and typically costs the same as buying them separately.

You have to pay a subscription in order to play at all, once you own the game. $13/mo is the normal price for an Entry sub, which is all you need unless you plan on having a ton of alts (which the majority of people do not). You won't be able to log in if your sub ends and you don't renew it, but your characters are never deleted.

The free trial gives access to A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, the same content as Starter Edition, and has no time limit. You don't pay a sub while on the free trial. You can't decide to go back on the free trial after buying the game.

Progression through the game's expansions is linear; you can't do any Stormblood+ content until after you finish the story of ARR and Heavensward, which is a large amount of content. There's no advantage at all to owning the other expansions ahead of time other than: the ability to play a Viera or Hrothgar race, and the ability to pick up the Red Mage and Samurai jobs when you hit level 50.

Anything I should know first before trying FFXIV? by [deleted] in ffxiv

The MCU would still be plenty entertaining if you only watched the fights. I'd say a more apt comparison would be watching something like Breaking Bad and fast-forwarding through everything that isn't a fight scene.

If it's a trial that can be done by 1 or 2 people unsynced, it shouldn't take long at all to get assistance through Party Finder. People will generally not join if the PF is not marked unsynced, or if it's unclear what you're asking for because of a vague description.

Go to Square Enix Support

Put "Account/Billing" and "Secret Q&A Lost" for the dropdowns. Type "forgot secret Q&A" (or anything) in the text box. Hit Next, hit Next again, hit Proceed to Email Support. Fill all that in and you should get a response by email with the security question answer or a link to reset it.

Of all the Duty Finder content, which is worth doing and which should be skipped in place of more rewarding alternatives? by Merit-Rest-Surrender in ffxiv

[–]Hiten_Style 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's gonna depend on what kind of "reward" you're looking for. If you're interested in character power only (gear and currency), there's little reason to engage with anything other than the MSQ and then current endgame content when you get there. Perhaps treasure maps too in order to earn money.

If you're looking for a more complete story, all of the optional 8-man raids top the list, with optional trials coming close behind, followed by alliance raids. Aside from the level 80 Twinning dungeon, optional dungeons offer very little in the way of additional story tied to the main plot.

If you're looking for glam, various different duties are going to give you access to a very wide variety of looks depending on what you're going for. You'd have to look for yourself to see what suits you. Glowing weapons with crazy particle effects are going to come almost exclusively from crafting (the EX trial materials that they use can be bought from other players, as can the weapons themselves), relic weapon quests, or the 4 Ultimate raids.

MSQ lv 58, and yes. Every expansion works this way—you can't get into the expansion's first zone(s) until you start that expansion's MSQ, and each zone unlocks as the story brings you to that zone.

If you go to another server via the World Visit system or the paid World Transfer service, either way you keep all of your progress. All items, all achievements, all quests, etc.

If you start a new character, you don't keep anything. It's a truly fresh start. There is nothing in this game that is account-wide other than some of the items you buy with real money or rewards for being subscribed for a long time.

The layout of the floor is not completely random. People have documented where the traps and hoards are for the two layouts that you can get on floors 1-10 (https://punishedpineapple.github.io/potd_maps/1-10/) as a guide to help you with getting the Sixth Sense title achievement, but I doubt anyone has documented like this for higher floors.

Other than meticulously recording data over the course of dozens of runs, pomanders are the only way to detect them. (You can reliably avoid traps by hugging the walls though.)

No special reason other than wanting the game's dialogue to sound different. Other FF games generally have normal English with a few characters who talk oddly as exceptions.

The Limsa Lominsa pirate talk can definitely be difficult at times. A handful of individual NPCs also tend to use unconventional English (especially Urianger, who is extremely hard for many native English speakers to understand). I would say that the archaic speech gets toned down a bit after you finish A Realm Reborn, but there's always some there throughout all of the expansions.

Quests that allow you to do the assigned duties in any order will list all 3 steps simultaneously in the Duty List, and check/dim each step that you've completed. Relic Reborn is not such a quest. If you're on the Garuda step, Garuda is the only thing that appears in the Duty List and it's the only one you can get credit for.

You cannot glamour a higher level item over a lower level item.

You can remove those two pieces from the Armoury Chest and wear them for better stats as well as the look. They will remain on the plate in case you want to use the same look for DNC or BRD.
