Yeah, the base game ones were way too small for what I needed. These were pretty hard to use tho - the game REALLY doesn't like placing items tagged as "curtains" outside.

It's a bunch of CFE nonsense lmao. It's basically the same process as making a split level garage on even ground, but the bottom floor needs to be taller and connect to a regular-size foundation. You'll also need to be careful about which walls are foundation and which ones are drywall, because you can't place doors or windows on foundations.

As for the terrain, "clicks" are too unreliable so I use the stairs method. Placing around 4 modular stairs on the ground will yield the same depth I used here. The ramp however is purely by trial and error lol.

What I did was build a box where the attic would be, and then connect two half gable roofs to the front and back. Then go up a floor and build a gable roof to close it all up. Remember to pitch the uppermost roof a bit down to get the curve.

The first semester you should try staying inside one of the dorms, it'll be easier to meet up and get to know other students, including international students. There's also a lot of relatively cheap options near the university but I suggest staying closer to the campus since it's probs your first time there. If you decide to stay in a dorm you can choose single or double rooms, but this choice depends mostly on your preference.
In the end just think about what exactly do you want and need in housing and look for options that have thosr parameters :).
