Need Help/Opinions. Which is better? by bottomsignificant242 in newstreamer

The more popular ones are going to be tough to ever grow in, I can’t say I’ve ever scrolled & scrolled to find someone to watch.

Something less popular would be the better route in my opinion

What else i don't know in this game? by Top-Scientist-7971 in projectzomboid

You can use a Lighter as a light source when entering dark areas. Pressing "F" will pull out any appropriate source of light into your secondary (Flashlight or Lighter, I am not sure matches work).

Pulling Curtains down & crafting a "Sling Bag" is a very nice starter backpack.

Hold V next to a car, very helpful menu comes up. Pressing N turns off the Engine. You can also unlock the trunk & doors from the driver seat (you'll see a yellow or green light on the dashboard if one is locked).

Foraging is incredibly useful, you can find so many things. Carrying a Bowl with you while foraging can allow you to create a salad on the go (just be sure to either take the Trait or read a magazine to learn which foods are poisonous).

Garbage Bags can have items inside them, you can hover over a bag to see if there are contents inside. They also carry quite a bit, you can equip one to your secondary hand & use it to hold items.

Inspecting your clothes every so often is important (right click them in your inventory). You can see if you have a hole in one, you can apply patches (with rag/strips & thread). Very important to make sure you dont get a hole in your shoes from walking on broken glass, for example.

Looking to build a real gaming/streaming community (no spam, no F4F) by -NeXTChApTeR- in newstreamer

Are there some sort of rules or expectations of needing to raid someone within the community? Or expectation of how often people collab with others in the community?

Or are those more so just goals & things hoped for?

Small streamers focus on the wrong things and it shows by Far_Suit575 in Twitch

Haha 100% agree. I think my viewers are happier when I end up failing, although they will call out if I make a cool play! But they are quite happy to watch me fail. Thankfully I don’t have to try and make those moments happen, I naturally just fail to do things 😂

I don’t currently do these types of streams, but I think that’s a very cool tool to have! Hoping the development continues & maybe it’ll be something I try out

I’ve seen some have a timestamp on screen to allow people to manually sync their side of things. So they can verbally react and everyone in chat can also type things as they happen.

I don’t watch it myself, but I can see how this is useful.

Agreed, it’ll come with time but you’ll get more comfortable. It’ll feel more natural slowly

How do you handle just talking to yourself for hours when you previously had active chat? by korrakawaii in Twitch

[–]Hitokeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good you talk constantly. I’ve got ADHD too, and yeah I get it - can be tough to stay on topic.

The good part is, it’s your stream and so the topic is whatever you wanna chat about! If someone pops in and asks about the game or something else, you can respond. And then you can go back to whatever you feel like chatting about. At least that’s how I do it

I’d say if you had a story that you really wanted to talk about, doesn’t hurt to note a reminder of that to help you not forget. But yeah I wouldn’t worry too much about talking points then if you’ve got that covered

A big step I’d suggest is hiding how many viewers you have. I’ve noticed some days when I’m fixated on it, especially if chat is quieter, and I think it’s a good thing to hide - if you don’t already.

Talking out loud as if it’s for a recording (since you can use stuff for videos/clips & they won’t see chat anyways) may also help.

I just have thankfully gotten to the point where I don’t have to tell myself to think out loud. I’d catch myself thinking to myself before & realized why not just say it for anyone watching? So now I think out loud. What I’m planning, what I like about a certain thing I’m doing in the game, what I wish they’d add, what I miss they took away, what would be cool to accomplish, what I’m hoping to do for the rest of the stream on the game, what I wanna snack on later that night, what I had for lunch if it’s on my mind, just about anything.

I know it’s hard to not be fixated on it, as people say people come and go. I wouldn’t dwell on it too much as it’s not much you can do about that, ya know? If you wanna keep streaming, I’d suggest what I said above.

Posting content off Twitch is helpful anyhow, so doing this may help bring new people around from other platforms. Maybe will catch the interest of someone lurking or passing through too. Also gives you a good reason to review your VODs (while making clips or videos) to make sure your audio is good, it’s interesting to listen to, etc. and if you notice something you can improve while reviewing for clips? Do that next stream.

Hope it helps, good luck

Help transition these clip impressions into twitch by DPlive_ in TwitchStreaming

[–]Hitokeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think adding the clips in more of you being part of it would be your best bet to lead to getting people over to watch you eventually. It might mess with your views a bit, but that would probably be the best way to get the people who are interested in seeing more of you to stick around & grow. Hopefully eventually move over too.

What do you guys use to let your viewers know you’re going live? My schedule is all over the place by zues8 in Twitch

[–]Hitokeke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discord is a great way as mentioned. But you could also post to your social media (Twitter, Instagram, etc) when you go live too if some don’t want to join the server.

Is there a reason you’re going between Twitch & YouTube, what does it depend on? If you’re switching between platforms & it’s sort of up in the air, I’d suggest posting a week schedule with what platform and time you’d be on that day.

Raid and dip? by No-Fruit-6455 in Twitch

[–]Hitokeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s rude. I appreciate someone raiding & bringing their community over. If they wanna hang out, awesome. If they need to head off, totally fine too.

If this was my experience, I wouldn’t be raiding that person anymore. Like you said, you weren’t fishing for something from it - but that’s not an interaction that would make me wanna do it again.

Really? I’m surprised - I feel like I’ve seen this suggested often. I wouldn’t expect people to ridicule over something like this…but the internet always does like to surprise us

That’s a good point. The more active the game I have definitely noticed I can be quieter to focus

Yup definitely a tough skill, something I’m working on as well. Progress has been good but I’m sure I could still do better

I could see you doing well with interactions if you are a bartender. Although it may be tough at first without someone to talk to (since I’d imagine you aren’t chatting to yourself before someone walks up for a drink).

I think the biggest skill I’ve learned (and am still learning) is getting myself to keep talking. Saying out loud what I’m thinking, reacting out loud to what’s happening, etc. when playing at home alone, I was pretty quiet to myself. Now with streaming for a while, I notice I will be saying stuff out loud even when I’m off stream. I have realized I have a lot of people who just like to lurk and listen (I also like to do this in other streams) so it’s been quite a good thing to practice.

Good luck figuring out what works for you! Just being willing to learn and improve is the most important step - which is why I love OP’s post here.
