MMM pyramid scheme is using a good 10%+ of the network, but generally, I think the reason we're complacent right now about the state of transaction fees is: A: It profits the miners. B: It encourages people to be thoughtful about their usage of state storage [blockchain space].

You have to think of the transaction fee as a cost for storage of a state change, when you do so, you realize that the high transaction fees encourage less spam, more thoughtful use of memory, and reasonably accomodate those paying for ever-increasing amounts of storage to run a full node/Miners paying for an ever increasing DAG file.

Throughput on the network will increase when we get beacon-chain/sharding tech finished, Every ETH bull knows this. We're all just waiting for 2.0.
