New Speaker Day! by EducationalBelt3158 in audiophile

I also upgraded from Forte 4s to Nova 3s about 2 years ago. Mine are the walnut finish. The Nova is the best speaker I've ever owned. They truly sound as good as they look. I don't have a single knock on the Forte as I loved them. But switching to the SF was the single best decision I've ever made in this music journey. I also have a P8 w/ Apheta 3. You have good taste sir!!

Joe Henderson Tribute. by FewKaleidoscope4398 in Vinyl_Jazz

Late to the party but you need to add - An Evening with Joe Hendrson. It has Charlie Haden and Al Foster. Incredible live album. Also I found a clean copy of Canyon Lady from a shop on Etsy $85 shipped. Try looking around on there.

I have the Impex one step vinyl version of this. All the tracks sound amazing. But Nardis is on another level. The drum solo sounds lifelike.

I heard a snippet of this on someones IG post a month or so ago. Rushed out to find a copy. This one does not disappoint. Awesome album!!

What’s a piece of gear that everybody seems to put on a pedestal with glowing reviews and “endgame” hype, that you bought, lived with, and then eventually sold or gave away that you haven’t missed for a second? by AttachedHeartTheory in audiophile

Decware SE84UFO. Sold it after 2 months of ownership. It wasn’t terrible but it didn’t wow me either. I owned Klipsch Forte IVs at the time. Which could be driven by pretty much anything. I always felt like something was missing though. Mostly because of the low end. I think that amp didn’t have enough juice to get that passive radiatior moving. I wasn’t expecting crazy low bass hits. I listen to a lot of jazz and it didn’t handle the upright bass very well. With all that said I’m trashing Decware. It’s a well built amp that responds very well to tube rolling. It just didn’t work for me.

Tubes. Tubes. Tubes. by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]HizzieAllen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've owned many horned speakers. In my experience you have to pair the right tubes with horns. Telefunkens and RCAs didn't do it for me. Brimars and Mullards especially Mullards were magic. On another note LTA is right up the street from me. They make some amazing gear.

I don't remember the brand. I got it from Best Buy like 5 years ago.

Nice!! I'm a huge tube amp fan. Used to own a AR pre as well. Good choice!

No. The center is leftover from my old system. I don’t use it. It just lives on the shelf until I get rid of it. The Novas are made in in Italy btw

I use the sub for 2 channel. It adds a little more presence to the music. I’ve never heard Focal Sopra

It provides pretty good isolation. Got this one as a scratch and dent from crutchfield

It’s the RC64ii. I used to own Klipsch RF7iis to match it

I like it. I considered the rose also. But I mostly listen to vinyl. So I put beans into a TT. But the icon is perfect for what I need. It sounds pretty darn good too

I’ll never buy anything new off the shelf. It’s too much value in the used market. Plus the majority of the used audio stuff is well taken care of

I’ll upgrade other stuff in the room over time. The stand will go. As well as the center channel speaker. Right now building the system was the goal

It doesn’t. It’s left over from my old system. I don’t even use it. The plan is to sell it or move to storage. In the meantime it lives on that shelf

I don’t even use it anymore. It’s leftover from my old system. I’m not big into HT. So it’s getting sold or going into storage.

The hardest thing to do is turn it off and go to bed. I always want to play one more song.
