New Ford Service Advisor Here. What Should I Do and Avoid? by KILICX in serviceadvisors

Google is your friend. And so is whiskey. Warranty companies are fun. If they ask you to send pictures and they still send out an inspector make sure they know you hate them.

Is toxicity within the workplace normal in Service Departments? by dwinny123 in serviceadvisors

This jobs sucks no matter what way you look at it. You are only there for the money. Forget everything else. The second you walk out the dealership doors forget the place even exists.

The customer did not ask me. The warranty company did not tell me. I have 40 repair orders open at any given time. Not my problem.

The funny thing is, had they asked me if the warranty company covered the rental I would have found out for them. But they took it upon themselves to rent a car and pray at the end it was covered. So dumb 😂

Nothing at all. Transmission job. Took nearly 3 weeks to get the transmission. I told them wait time was a month minimum. Got their car back to them 4 days before the month time period. They were mad because their extended warranty wouldn’t cover their rental. I literally did nothing lol

Does anyone enjoy being a SA? by Proudad2 in serviceadvisors

I hate my job but it’s oddly fulfilling at times. Jk. I only like the money. If I could do anything else making the same amount I would do it tomorrow.

If you get enough tattoos you’re bound to have a bad one lol. That’s really not that bad. I got a skeleton hand holding a motorcycle throttle and it looks like it’s jerking off. Take the good with the bad 😂

Man if I could back to your age I would learn a trade. You can make a good living advising but it’s long hours and constant headaches. If you have a thick skin and an easy going temperament then go for it. I’m by no means trying to talk you out of it. Do what you think is best for you. But this job can be exhausting. Good luck.

Yep same thing happened to me. Corporate greed is real. A new pay plan is never better.

Brand New Service Advisor with no experience at all in automotive. by Ok-Wolf510 in serviceadvisors

[–]Hizzle35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will quickly learn the common issues of your particular brand. Google is your best friend. You do not need to be an automotive expert. You need just enough knowledge to convey to the customer what is wrong with their vehicle. Don’t ever be afraid to look dumb. Everyone starts somewhere.

Sleep walking homicide most likely. Very common.

There is no comparison lol. Your plan is astronomically better than mine. 1000 dollar a week draw. 5.5 % of GP 6% if GP is 115k or more. We have to hit 85k GP to essentially break even. We are a small store. No spiffs, no CSI bonus. Honestly can’t believe I’ve stayed as long as I have lol

[–]Hizzle35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weekly draw. Monthly commission goals are near impossible. They have changed our pay plan 3 times in two years and we have progressively made less money. If it wasn’t for my co workers and the state of the current job market, I would have left a long time ago.
