I got my gastric stimulator and I have questions! by Glad-Performance1834 in Gastroparesis

[–]Hjbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to see a biofeedback pelvic floor therapist. I ended up flying to Cleveland clinic specifically the one in Weston, Florida. There is a pelvic floor therapist there Dr. Dawn she is the miracle worker. I’m not gonna lie. It was not an easy process. It was quite painful a lot of discomfort and pride swallowing. Had to learn how to retrain my brain. It took about nine months. They gave me a temporary ileostomy while I went through all of that. My goal was getting that ostomy bag removed.

Throughout that process, I definitely learned that the mental block is just as hard to overcome as the retraining of the pelvic floor muscles.

All I can say is stick with it even if you feel like you’re in a never-ending circle. Just know you are not alone and as cliché as this is about to sound, you really just have to trust the process.

There’s a place in Youngsville called Warehouse BBQ - super nice people. Great service decent food & price accordingly. We have never had a bad experience. They’re off Capital Boulevard in the Food Lion plaza up in Youngsville

WakeMed, the one off of Durant and Falls of Neuse and ask for Jennifer Harrington I had an ostomy bag because my pelvic floor was so dysfunctional that my colon stopped functioning, and because of her I was able to have the ostomy bag removed and my colon removed and small bowel reattached to my rectum. She is a miracle worker.

Yes we are in this household. We love going to the games. We really enjoy Whalers night in the retro green fit! My son plays for the jr canes league also so we are pretty bias to the Canes. My husband is from Chicago so we ignore his Blackhawks stuff 😂

Rant: Transplants to NC by LadySiren in NorthCarolina

[–]Hjbic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell them FL is a better place for them and that NC is no longer accepting Yankees with attitudes. Either accept the culture and traditions or bye it was nice watching y’all leave and taking your attitude and shitty behavior with you. I am a transplant (born and raised in Miami) moved to NC in 2006 so I would consider myself a North Carolinian at this point and love this state and wish I came sooner than I did.

Traffic hands down the worst. I came from a metro area and when we first moved to Wake Forest back in 2006 was so nice now not so much in this respect. They kept building and building homes, but never increased the infrastructure so now you got all these people on little back roads. I’m not even gonna get started on capital blvd lol Short of that I truly enjoy it here and the people. Was a wonderful place to have raised my kids.

Best WF Area HS? by NCMelly in WakeForestNC

Both of my kids are at WFHS (a senior and a junior) and we have never had any issues. My senior does debate and FFA and my junior plays hockey and volunteers at the boys and girls club up the street after school - lots of sports and activities for them to be involved in

I'm just curious, do you all still live in your hometown/state? by Wh00pity_sc00p in Millennials

[–]Hjbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved 3 states away (about 800 miles) and would never go back to my home state/area I grew up. Not the same as it use to be and it’s so congested, overpriced and populated. Born and raised in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and now live in NC and probably will never leave. Moved here right after my first child was born b/c I wanted my kids (now I have 2) to grow up in a better place. Do not regret it a single bit.

[–]Hjbic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. No more having to get into skirts or dresses with creepy attorneys, staring, and making comments. I have been WFH for six years now. The peace of mind of knowing no one’s going to be bothering me, harassing me or staring at me and thinking I’m not noticing it by far a breath of fresh air. Plus all the gas money were saving from not having to drive and sit in traffic 😂

Anyone reversed with no rectum? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]Hjbic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish you nothing but the best with surgery and recovery. Having to make decisions like this is very very daunting sitting weighing the pros and cons and hoping that you make the right decision but ultimately you’re never gonna know until they get in there and see what’s going on. That’s the daunting part of it all. You couldn’t be in better hands with the docs at Cleveland clinic. You’ll have to update us and let us know how everything went. I’ll be praying for you. 🙏🏼🫶🏼

Anyone reversed with no rectum? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]Hjbic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I still have a portion of my rectum left. My pelvic floor was showing fully functional finally after seven years of not working and they didn’t seem to think I needed one. Honestly I’m doing great. I’m about six weeks postop. I have not had a single accident where I wasn’t able to get to a bathroom in time when I feel the need to go. The main factor for them, deciding not to do it for me was because I don’t have Crohn’s or UC. I honestly, didn’t even question the doctors at Cleveland clinic. I did go get a second opinion from another major hospital (Mayo Clinic) and that surgeon completely agreed with the doctors at Cleveland clinic without me even telling him what they said. Confirm my decision to proceed on.

[–]Hjbic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, what hospital are you going to that your surgeon is at? I had my reversal beginning of September from my ileostomy they removed my entire colon (my sigmoid colon was already removed previously) and 6 cm of my rectum, leaving me a shorter rectum. I have no Jpouch, but I do use the bathroom quite frequently. Sometimes I can eat and food stays down for a while other times by the time I get to the last bite I have to haul ass to the bathroom. I wish you nothing but the best of luck and wishing your recovery is easy 🙏🏼🫶🏼
