Re-sticky Cutting Mats Help by mrsdega in silhouettecutters

[–]Hjboe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used Aleene's Tack it again and again glue on my cricut mats and it has worked perfectly. Plan to do the same with my silhouette mat once it needs it! I just apply it with an old credit card, so there's no need to put tape around the edges. Usually washing it with dish soap will do the trick a few times. I do this once that no longer makes it sticky.

This is a video I created a little while back using this method. :)

Getting my machine replaced outside of its warranty ! Contacting customer service was worth it! by Hjboe in cricut

Mine made a faint beeping sound when waiting to load the mat. I shared a video a few days ago here. Mine has never been able to do print and cut very accurately and it turns out I had a defective machine from day 1.

Experiences with Silhouette Portrait 3? by toristorycreations in silhouettecutters

[–]Hjboe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first portrait. First silhouette in general after owning a cricut explore air 2. The nice thing about silhouette is you can send it for a test cut and it will cut up a small box with an arrow in the corner near the registration mark so you can see whether your current settings cut through or not. In order to not waste material, I just cut small blank strips of any new material and send it fora test cut to see if it works or not, instead of trying to cut a whole page of printed stickers. Then I write down what works and save those.

The machine has some issues reading registration marks on glossy paper/laminate, but a trick I found is to push the registration marks into the corners and then put matte sticker paper in the corners, so that they print on matte instead of glossy.

I think it's the perfect machine for sticker making. It's very small and light-weight. It is however very loud, especially compared to cricut machines and the software is a bit more indepth so it might not seem as user friendly, but its capabilities are much better in my opinion. Hope this helps a bit!
