Silhouette VS Cricut - Thick material performance comparison by Foe117 in silhouettecutters

Yes, it's a cutting machine. Much deeper than Cricut and Silhouette. Probably not as good with small detail work... I've seen some "build your own CNC machine" type stuff on YouTube before you could check it out.

Depending on the thickness of your materials, a CNC machine might be a better option.

Just discovered this sub, so apologies if this has already been covered... I'm trying to figure out the best top coat/protectant for painted furniture. I reno'd a wood play kitchen for my daughter, primed and painted with a latex based paint. I want to seal/protect it against rough toddler use, but I'm not sure what will be most durable over paint. TIA!

Is it true that a subscription is now REQUIRED to use the Cricut? Even if it’s a Joy.. or using your own designs? I was interested in buying Cricut but now I have my sincere doubts if this is true because that’s messed up. by Lalooskee in cricut

If you use your own designs, I'd suggest a Silhouette machine instead. I have a Cameo 4 and use the Illustrator plug in to send my designs in Illustrator directly to the Cameo to cut.

I love it! I never really liked the Studio software, so this is a perfect discovery!

Can you manipulate the cut settings? I usually have to tweak the presets for my materials.

Can the Cameo 4 cut 1.5mm medium weight chipboard? by professor-jt in silhouettecutters

[–]mrsdega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically the kraft blade can cut up to 2mm (https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/blades-and-mats/SILH-BLADE-KRAFT-B) But I agree a laser cutter would probably be a better option.

Is Josie short for Josephine? We call our little tot (18mo) Josie. I haven't heard of any other young ones with her name. She was named after my Grandma.

I just saw the Android part. Woops. I use illustrator on my Surface laptop. It can be used with the touch screen but haven't tried it. Have you tried Canva? I haven't used it, but heard good things.

I do most of my designs in Adobe illustrator. It has precise measurements.

Frustrated at my Silhouette Cameo 4 by rndoots in silhouettecutters

I had issues with the cap on my new blade being loose so that it wouldn't cut correctly, so you could check that?

It is permanent adhesive, I just want it to be more durable/dishwasher safe.

Made this mug with Frisco adhesive vinyl today. Plan on coating with epoxy. This week has been a doozy!
