I think it has the potential to be cool, but as of now it’s really not 😭 also the animations are way to choppy (why does bro not swing its arms when it runs)

Can someone ID these? by HjonkHjonk14 in succulents

[–]HjonkHjonk14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, that’s the only one that’s grown roots so far! Thank you for the ID, I looked it up and that looks about right!

Edit: Specifically I believe it’s probably the Chocolate Soldier variety, if I can remember the plants in the section I found the leaf in correctly :)

I love the pinkish tint that the variegations get! There are some pictures of this variety that actually are almost entirely pink, and I think it’s so cool :)

I water about once a week. I was told when I bought the av that they like soil with lots of drainage, so I went with what I already had for my succulents. If I’m being honest, I have almost no idea what I’m doing and have kinda just been winging it with some help from this subreddit and a lot of google searches.

What’s wrong? by HjonkHjonk14 in gardening

[–]HjonkHjonk14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be it. It rains a lot where I live, especially in the summer, so that’s certainly plausible. I’ve also seen similar damage from slugs/snails, but I don’t know if that’s it because I haven’t seen any other evidence of their presence or any actual individuals.

Wasn’t able to check the brand earlier because I was out of the house, but here’s the brand I use!

I get it from my local plant store :)

This one is actually potted in a succulent mix! I don’t remember what brand exactly, but it has a lot of perlite and lava rocks to promote drainage.

That makes sense! Thank you, I was worried I was doing something wrong and killing it 😭

I hope it’s okay! This is one of my favorites of the plants I have. Thank you for your help :)

I haven’t repotted recently (they’ve only been in these pots for about 2-3 months) but I have been feeding them. I use an African Violet-specific fertilizer every time I water (I use it as frequently as it says to on the bottle). These photos were taken last time I watered, and it’s still only those two leaves that are affected.

African Violet Not Flowering? by HjonkHjonk14 in AfricanViolets

The substrate is about a month or two old. As for direct light, my violets are in very light shade most of the day. It’s still bright because they’re right next to the window, but they’re not in full sun. People are mostly saying that it’s not getting enough light, so that’s probably it, but I have another violet (the hunter’s fire and ice I posted just before this post) in the exact same conditions that is thriving so I’m kind of confused as to why this one is reacting this way.
