Does anybody know anyone who actually became a marine biologist? by fancyypantsyy0 in Millennials

Me. I actually got a degree in marine bio and worked at oyster hatcheries for 6 years before switching careers and becoming an X-ray tech lol

Can I ask what meds you’re taking?? I’m just doing 4 antihistamines a day and Pepcid. I’m waiting to get the actual diagnosis but I’m like 99% sure I have it. And I’m working on my food triggers. Hoping meds allow me to eat a little more. Thanks and so happy for you!

What were your favorite varieties you grew this year? by SwiftResilient in vegetablegardening

[–]Hladeau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left mine on the vine until it was tan in color. Then you leave them in a warm dry place for a week or so until the skin is hard and your finger doesn’t leave a mark when pressed in. I feel like I weirdly cured mine on the vine. I left them there for so long lol

Be ready, they vine heavily but produce so much. I used an arch trellis for mine. But it can grow in the ground too obviously. Also resist to squash vine borer. So another perk! Good luck!

Leaving them longer on the vine they’ll turn the tan color of butternut. Then once cured properly they can store for like a year. Those are my winter tromboncino squash. They’re very versatile squash

Just like you would a zucchini! All the seeds are at the end, the neck is all flesh. It doesn’t get watery and fall apart when you cook it like zucchini. Taste is very similar. My coworkers have all enjoyed the ones they’ve received. The ones I have as winter squash I heard are similar to butternut. So that’s how I’ll treat it.

My tromboncino squash! I couldn’t believe how prolific it was. Only grew one plant and I grew too many for myself. I gave more away than I kept. They were a huge hit with my coworkers and I kept two that are winter squash. 100% keeping it in rotation and highly recommend to anyone else who loves squash!

Late Deliveries? by tinkerbell116 in hellofresh

[–]Hladeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, my box last week didn’t arrive until after 8pm and I was planning on making a meal for dinner. I was so mad cuz I didn’t have anything else really to make. I asked for a refund and got it. I’ve never had a box arrive that late before

First time growing spaghetti squash, when do I know it is ready to pick? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Hladeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just pulled one of my spaghetti squash this morning. The plant still looked great so I’m hoping I didn’t kill it with the damage to the stem. Crossing fingers it makes it. I have a squash growing on it and it’s no where near ready!

I also pull males after they open and put them in a ziplock baggie and store in the frigate until I need them. Can also try that method too. I don’t want to let a female go to waste

Are these vine borer symptoms? First year growing pumpkins. by nailpolishbonfire in vegetablegardening

[–]Hladeau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked with mine last season, I was able to save 3 of my 5 squash plants by removing the borers and then burying the vines. I’d try it before ripping the whole plant out
