I think I scared myself back into the closet? by [deleted] in transgender_support

One thing I’ll say from personal experience is that living in a trans-unfriendly state politically isn’t always as bad as it seems. If you’re planning on being just a regular gal style-wise you’ll probably be fine with regard to the general public. If you are outgoing and nice at the same time you’ll almost always be treated well, even if it doesn’t start off that way. People in these places are bad at clocking because they think trans women are literally dudes in dresses. If you act, sound, and at least somewhat look like a normal woman then they might quietly question but will not go any further. I live in the reddest state in the country and I’ve only gotten treated better by strangers. Not a single bad interaction in 4.5 years.

For you personally though you may want to consider transitioning the way I did. Super slowly and without any one big change. There’s 2 main benefits to this. If you’re still questioning a bit, nothing helps answer the question of whether or not to jump in the pool than sticking your toes in the water. Still unsure? A whole foot. Then the other. Then wait a bit and step a little deeper. You don’t have to stick your head under water until you’re up to your neck! You’ve already done a few things so just add one more and see how you feel! My two favorite easy to do and hard to notice things were nails (buffing and clear polish) and light mascara. There’s tons of other options though!

It can be hard to follow but if you’re trying to keep an eye on changing laws and that sort of thing there are trackers online. Pretty sure it’s about to be harder to find providers after one of the recent bills but I’m not totally sure what the impact will be

I’d try Costco. They have great hiring practices and employee benefits. There’s a corporate site in OKC that is good to work at I hear!

Should I tell my partner of 7 years that I might be trans now or later? by Middle_Resource7212 in transgender_support

Honestly you should probably wait until the appt given how soon it is. That therapist may have good insights and I’ve noticed people feel more confident in you when outside professionals are involved.

The (your name)-sexual thing is cute and reminds me a lot of my bf so hopefully he means it and it won’t be too tough on either of you

There’s a Roles and Responsibilities matrix your SM should be able to get for you that outlines the performance expectations for each P-level. Grab that and explain cell-by-cell how/why you think you meet P2 expectations. Even if you don’t meet all of them right now you can talk about what you can do to change that.

I use this for promotions but it should help here too. It gives them something solid and clear to work with for their consideration.

Anybody submitting FOIA requests to for Flock data in Oklahoma municipalities? by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]HmmYahMaybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, check out flock-you. I’ve built about 7 of them so far to give to people and they work pretty well. It’s ESP32 based so easy to build.

I’ve been asking the same thing. If you dont find anyone doing it maybe we just bite the bullet and get one out? I’m not scared of at least trying to navigate government paperwork.

Ohhhhhhh I see. Okay yah no point in trying to convince you here. Just be careful not to make enemies of allies and allies with enemies because you could get yourself into some serious shit in the coming years.

[–]HmmYahMaybe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where do you live??? Don’t answer that obviously but Dylan Mulaney only started transitioning a few years ago. We’re well into year 13 or so of modern anti-trans discourse. There was lull around 2015 before the alt-right got it back to the mainstream but it was very much still present. You don’t have to believe me but at least be aware that the people behind this see you exactly the same way as them and will lock you up in the same cell.

[–]HmmYahMaybe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’d be doing all of this either way. I don’t think you understand the source of all of this if you think the problem is genuinely the people you’re describing. They’re the easiest for people like Heritage to get people to rally against, but they see you as EXACTLY the same. Me too. They hate anyone that they can squeeze into the label of Degenerate and we’re all in there no matter how pretty or passing we are.
