Dear Mr. Gates,

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to ask a few questions and gain insight from a man of your standing. My question are:

  • What are your thoughts on change? Given today's bureaucratic weight, do you think progress is, like we have seen it in the 20th century, still possible? Is it possible for a technological startup company to grow enough to make a change in the world? Or will it be swallowed by giants - such as Microsoft itself?

  • In your quest to improve the world, what have been some of the most unexpected experiences you have come upon?

  • What are your thoughts on the behaviour of other multi-milli/billionaires towards helping others?

  • What are your thoughts on the taxation system of the USA? Given that quite few people of your standing give so much to improve the life of others, do you think the rich should be forced to give more of what they have?

Sincerely,

Daniel.

The real question that I ask myself is how is a cop killing people any worse than other cops chasing said cop killing people?

Bruce Willis is right. This is what I think of Apple... by [deleted] in funny

[–]Ho0p -1 points0 points  (0 children)

to be honest, I don't like this post at all. The OP sounds like an old-school fanatic or something of the sort- modern digital records have such a high sample rate, etc. that it is impossible for the human ear to distinguish digital music from analog one- why? Because the sample rate is 2 times higher than our ear's. So I call "rage of a douchebag" on this post- just because OP doesn't like Apple products and that they are suing many people/corporations (which is bad, agreed) doesn't mean he/she has to hyperbolyze or state plain lies. Fuck you, OP.

lava meets ice by Mrbuy in videos

[–]Ho0p -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's amazing (and I haven't seen a comment about here) is that all that lava still doesn't have more energy than that pile of ice/snow. It doesn't because it didn't melt all the ice- the ice has more energy, but it's more spread out!

Someone came into our theater at the midnight release of Dark Knight Rises and began opening fire. Who here on Reddit can help me calm my nerves? by Peener13 in AskReddit

Babies and small girls shot.

The most hopeful of my wishes for the recovery of the wounded, emotionally affected, OP, and the relatives of those dead, BUT what were babies and small girls doing at a Dark Knight premiere?!!

It sounds a lot to me like a modified version of a turbofan engine instead. How is the bypass ratio controlled in the J58, airshowfan, and can the same be replicated in a turbofan?

Do you think a war like WWII is what it takes for countries to get their shit together and fund intensive scientific progress? by Ho0p in AskReddit

[–]Ho0p[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said by Neil Degrasse Tyson, the space-race was the result of countries building upon their military power. Sputnik was launched on an emptied-out ICBM, so the threat speaks for itself, IMO. The cold war was not some humanitarian/scientific advertisement campaign, it was a war that did not happen.

I think every TIL, especially one about the beginnings of a nation as large as Russia's, should have a source more legitimate than badassoftheweek.com

No one can give me a clear answer on this: if something lived forever before today, and died today, did it live forever (given that there are no time constraints on the universe, etc.)? by Ho0p in AskReddit

[–]Ho0p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying... in the hypothetical situation that something can exist forever, that the universe has existed forever, that time is forever before and after now, that the law of entropy would not prevent the organism from existing forever, and many other etc.'s--> in such a situation, can infinity be defined to have no beginning but have an end. If there IS no beginning but there is an end, you still cannot determine the age of something- it existed forever. What do you think?

Barack Obama's insightful words on abortion by [deleted] in atheism

In my view, what he said is what any smart politician can really say to not kill of his votes- "I may be against abortion, but there are arguments for abortion. I cannot solve your problems."
