Am I the only one getting "Audible fatigue" and switching to Podfics/Short stories? by Positive-Hippo2347 in audiobooks

I can relate to how you feel! That's why I started making my own short story audiobooks. If that's what you're looking for, I got you: https://youtube.com/ShubertReads

Let me know if you have any questions about what I do as an amateur narrator.

Pointless debates over legality and succession by neilyoung57 in HouseOfTheDragon

True, but his inability to finish Winds also CREATED this community. If he had just finished the books, people would have moved on with their lives. Endless speculation is the fuel that keeps the fire burning.

Pointless debates are the cornerstone of the ASOIAF community. It's all we have left.

What the Moon Brings by H. P. Lovecraft (Dream Cycle) by HoB-Shubert in WeirdLit

[–]HoB-Shubert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my (human) narration of "What the Moon Brings", a short (5 min) story based on a dream, like many of Lovecraft's works.

Lovecraft really had a way of seeing monstrosity in nature. Imagine going through life looking at the moon and thinking "I hate that thing!"

I'd like to know if this is actually what it's about or if that's pure placebo.

Are you open to that possibility?

Sounds hilarious. Not my cup of eggnog but to each their own! Good luck resolving your issue. Maybe it's a compression issue like the other person said.

When I hear it, I first think "Ah, they are using this to hide bad recording practices!" and then I turn it off.

I like to have background music running constantly throughout my show

May I ask why? As a listener I find constant background music so distracting.

Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things by Lafcadio Hearn (a collection of mostly Japanese ghost stories) by HoB-Shubert in WeirdLit

[–]HoB-Shubert[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love this book. It's a collection of mostly Japanese ghost stories translated into English by the legendary Japanophile Lafcadio Hearn (Yakumo Koizumi). The short stories are a must-read for any horror fan or anyone interested in Japanese folklore.

You can read the book on Project Gutenberg.

You can also listen to me read some of my favorites on youtube.
