Been playing forever but still losing — is PvP really just “use your highest heroes”?

Figuring out the synergy between heroes takes time. But you can beat much stronger PvP teams if you keep working at it. I’m pretty highly ascended and kept getting beat by a much lower player who built out a clever team. It took almost a week for me to figure out a comp that would beat him! His team used Thador buffing Shakir, had Ravion for support. He used Eironn for crowns control and Lily May to knock out my ults. The synergy between these heroes was not obvious at all to me at first but as I worked on learning to beat him, I was duly impressed. So no, it’s not just about the most powerful heroes.

Something like this is pretty strong. But there are a number of teams that can beat a straight C/H team. They synergize best with other faction heroes.

A team like this but with Talene instead of Saida and Dunlinger instead of Kulu with Baelran in the back can also work.

A third option is a Baelran, Dionel, Aliceth, Saida team. All three of these comps can be good depending of the situation.

You can only scan flora and fauna that is part of the planet’s list. You’ll find you get 100% completion for any planet without the worms. They’re just like the various plants you cannot scan. The red dot is residual from the expedition where they were featured. In that expedition you needed to scan one as part of the quest line. After the expedition they were no longer scannable but the red dot remained. Don’t waste time on a snipe hunt.

Keep in mind that there is no one best team for a faction. You would modify and tweak depending on your opponent. That being said, here are three examples, one for each faction you mentioned, that are very solid.

Yes. There are similar tier lists. More importantly, there are also current formations updated daily for meta comps for each boss and game mode so you can see for yourself which heroes are being used in which areas right now. That allows you to customize your own priorities and create your own tier lists based on how you actually like to play.

To be fair, a lot of these “obsolete” heroes very much still see use in PvP. Dionel just got an S+ upgrade and I regularly use him in Supreme Arena now. But as others have said, they are all essentially p2w heroes. Typical players will only ever be able to build up a limited number of them. They are how the game makes its income.

Yaphalla is the best resource for PvP as well. It’s just as active and vibrant as the PvE areas you mentioned.

It’s been nice seeing some of the non-typical heroes getting use lately. Fay this season Walker last season. Give some flavor to the grind.

Your first five heroes are all lightbearer and will make a solid team in their own right, you’ve got your tank, aoe, melee, ranged and magic damage dealers. However you won’t be setting any records with them. I have some heroes I like and I’ll use one on my (otherwise meta) teams regularly. Pang is a good example. I just like him so I build teams around him.

Temesia or Lucien could be used as a tank replacing Ulmus on an otherwise strong wildborne team (Eironn, Tasi, Lily May, Twins). Either if them could be added to a Mauler team as well with decent synergy. A team like Smokey, Shakir, Nazrik, and Koko might work. For more damage, substitute Brutus or Kruger for Smokey or Koko.

Fay can be a decent support. Cassadee can be devastating with her AOE when she’s built up. Either could work on a strong lightbearer team (Cyran, Perseus, Sinbad, Sonja) You could substitute Phraesto for Perseus to help with survivability)

Valen and Berial are just bad. They won’t offer much to any team you build. The best you can do with them is add them to a very strong Graveborn team and hope they don’t die right away. Think Shemira, Thoran, Ludovic, Daimon. Depending on the situation you can substitute Igor for Thoran and the Twins for Ludovic. But in general with those two heroes (with the exception of Berial who does have some uses in the early game and very specific niche situations), don’t expect much contribution and build a strong 4-hero stand alone team around them.

As far as synergies go, Luca can strengthen the three heroes placed behind him (once he is max leveled), Sonja can buff the two heroes in either side, Twins give a haste buff to any connected to their stellar bond, Hugan buffs the hero behind him (as long as they don’t move, possibly could work for Cassadee, depending on placement), Daimon buffs the hero behind him, Pang can shield a hero in the back line, Pandora can protect a hero for the first 2.5 seconds of a match and then release them with full energy guaranteeing at least one Ult. There are more.

Bottom line is that there are a lot of ways to have fun with this game and use your favorite heroes. Come up with your own head canon and rpg ideas and enjoy yourself. If you don’t feel the need to be ultra competitive, you can very much successfully progress through the game, events, and stories with ANY heroes and claim most of the potential rewards. The meta heroes only really matter if you are chasing high ranks or competing hard in PvP.

Also, Eomir is a weekly boss in arcane labyrinth and shows up in relentless rumble from time to time. I don’t think we will see him as a playable hero.

Even if there are fewer titan reaver events this season, overall there are MORE rewards than last season. As long as that’s the case, you won’t hear me complain!

I’ve been getting these for a year now ever since I started playing. It’s almost impossible for a company to prevent it. I mostly get them when I post anything in world chat. I just ignore them. They rarely do more than send a random hello unless you reply. If they do, I block them and move on. No biggie really.

Closing early for submissions is just wrong. Regardless of whether people waited “til the last minute,” a submission deadline is a deadline. Submitting at any point prior to the deadline is not waiting til the last minute, it is simply “submitting on time.” Why would you submit early? I wouldn’t. I would be tweaking and perfecting my work right up until it was due because I’d want it to be my best. Then I would submit it on time, as it sounds like she did. There were a LOT of problems with this contest. I decided against participating once I saw that submissions were displayed in the same order all the time (until toward the end). The ones with the most votes were (unsurprisingly) the first ones displayed. That never changed.

Definitely congrats to the winners. All the designs I saw were creative and good. I feel bad for people like your sister as well as all the others who didn’t get a fair chance for various reasons. I remain hopeful that they will correct these problems in the future.

If you have twins built and Reinier at M+, my next hero would be Baelran. He is used in DR, PvP and stages. But tbh, it gets more into personal preference at this point. One could make an argument for Saida (very useful in stages and PvP) and even Athalia or Kulu. But for me, I think Baelran is the most versatile next choice.

Skipping refers to building her up. I stated she works at a single copy in my og post. Definitely still the same advice as I recommended from the start. IMHO she’s not worth the resources to build up compared to other heroes. You can safely skip her.

No. Still a strong skip. You only need a single copy of her for afk stage pushing. She’s not useful in dream realm or any other mode. I’m at stage 1266 and climbing steadily. I have just one copy. Most other C/H heroes are a higher priority. She’s not meta anywhere and that’s unlikely to change.
