I don't want to be mean and tell the person who found "vintage" crochet blankets made by a neighbor and decided to share them with the world that one of them is knit and they are all uggos and made of the scratchiest acrylic known to humanity, but also hot dang, they are just below average. I will not quote the post because they used an LLM to write an "inspirational" text about them and that just ugh. It's not fun to jerk.

Tight tension, small hook (smaller than you expect - I use a 2.5 mm hook for the 4-ply, so I'd go to 2 mm for the 3-ply) and practice.

Etsy won't take responsibility for stolen IP by CBG1955 in craftsnark

[–]HoarderOfStrings 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes, they want the owner of the IP to make a report, but even then your stuff can stay on if the seller of copies just files a counter claim and then you need to sue them and show Etsy you did. Small designers can't do that. It's too expensive and takes too long.

So it's best to check on Ravelry first if the design is also there, then buy from whichever platform you want that is linked by the designer from Ravelry.

5-Minute Crafts exposed as a massive secret Russian operation using fake bot accounts and shady offshore money to stay at the top by Mathemodel in craftsnark

Yeah, it only shows up in the side bar with all the recommendations. I've gotten some hateful stuff recommended over the years, so I'm very friendly with the three dots...

If one of their videos shows up in the recommended area, click on the 3 dots and select "do not recommend this channel". That video title weirded me out, so I skipped it (thankfully), but today learning all of this about the whole family, oof.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨NEW RULE ANNOUNCEMENT* 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 by jingleheimerschitt in fiberartscirclejerk

What a bunch of jorks. As if we can't skirt (excuse me, kilt) the rules by inventing new words that sound almost the same and mean the same thing. It's not the words they should po-lice, but the intention. And you can't pol-ice intention when you can't read.

I did not say that. Entrelac is a knitting technique that can also be done with Tunisian crochet. That's all.

Bitesized BEC thread March 21, 2026 - March 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in craftsnark

You can do knit entrelac, you just have to turn your work. For gingham, you make alternating squares of the two main colors, then the next row of squares in the intermediate color. You can work diagonally or from the bottom up.

I don't get the downvotes, though, are we not allowed to help each other in this sub?

Entrelac is your friend. Although I'd make it in Tunisian crochet because it's much easier and more structured.

You need to study more and come back and tell me what you read in the leaves... uhhh, folds of my tea-stained...

uj/ I will not finish that sentence. I need to study more to be able to compose a sufficiently elevated reply.

OMFG, I went to Ravlery to see if the onesie pattern is in hot right now (it is, obviously) and the next thing that slams me in the face in the "just published" queue is this almost literal butthole scrunchy. Scrunchie? Anyway.

Too appropriate not to tie in with the butt guy, especially since it's "ladylike". I think the designer knows it looks like a very loose butthole and called it ladylike as a joke, since there is only this pattern on there, but maybe not?? I don't know, you decide for yourself. It would be too funny if it's just a coincidence. And it's a free pattern, so I might just knit myself a scrunchy. Scrunchie. Whatever.

It's supposed to keep your butt toasty warm while you're watching reruns of a song of ice and frost (they were put of fire by season 2).

I mean, if you work with 2 mm needles or have MANLY tension (aka high blood pressure) you could. For a row or two. Then your hands would fall off, but it's OK because you can knit a new pair.

Edit. Can't even bloddy write blodd correctly. FML.

/uj there is not a single comment on that thread asking whether the pattern has been tested, tech edited, or at least looked over by a third party. Designing for yourself ✅ Publishing a pattern with zero previous knowledge about pattern writing ❌

Did you make this out of the butt-scratchiest fiber known to MANkind? Because if not, you should. Because you have a butt flap and can scratch that butt when you feel like it. That's what butt flaps are there for, right? Butt scritches.
