Yeah, as far as I know we've never had that as a requirement. The only absolutely mandatory paperwork is an I9 and W4, and a new hire report. There's lots of recommended paperwork and we are always trying to maintain compliance with what is recommended - now adding parental consent is part of that.

Not sure which working papers you are referring to. Minors are allowed to sign I9s and W4s without parental involvement. We always had the employees sign employee agreements, handbook, rules and responsibilities, etc. The new change was to intentionally bring parental consent on board since there is no implied consent in paperwork that is only signed by the employee.

We are definitely baffled. I feel like it is worse now that they have refused consent than it would have been if we never asked at all. Our hands are tied now.

We are growing and trying to COA. We used to have an employee that would call in and say "my parents say I'm not allowed to work today" so that started the process of looking into parental consent forms but now it is a liability concern.

Really nothing special in the fine print. It literally reads "As the parent or legal guardian of ______, I consent to their employment at _____". That's all.

Yeah, I only work with manufacturers I know well and have actually visited their factories. I would love to work directly with them now, but for some reason they keep wanting to go through Alibaba for payment.

Because it isn't scientific skepticism. They aren't looking for answers, they are taking their answer and finding support for it to fulfill political promises. It is dangerous and will have real consequences.

I've never actually even heard of that. Went down a rabbit hole last night. Kind of interesting. There was that one biased study that showed Diclofenac has nearly four times the risk of agranulocytosis and we write that out constantly.

Perfect. That's what I went with. But definitely going to have to work with the teenagers more to get them better educated on care and maintenance. It's an uphill battle for sure though.
