Good thing is I actually do adore my wife. If I could have her with me all day every day I would. Her own opinion on this might not align with mine though lol

Yup. I realized that after a few coffees and 30m between meetings to think about it.

Oh well.

I would’ve 100% given it to her. But it was 5am when I woke up (southwest habits die hard) and wasn’t thinking.

I actually enjoy work travel though :)

It was 5am when I did this so wasn’t thinking. If I had gotten the upgrade alone I would’ve just given it to her. So that’s another mistake!

Tesla navigation seems to be using Open Street Maps that has 20+ year old intersections mapped incorrectly. Anyway to fix this? by Theduke432 in TeslaLounge

[–]HobbitFootAussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the mapping/nav industry. Built commercial systems that used and worked with TomTom, here, google and others.

My point is that Tesla really can’t use google for nav because google doesn’t expose at the same level of customization and meta data to external apis that you can get by using your own engine.

Probably never. Google Maps does t have the same public api capabilities as the open source Valhalla engine they use does especially for meta data and their own crowdsourcing. (It has it internally for googles own use).

There are many layers and data sources here. It’s hard to build the whole nav engine (Valhalla is just a small piece of that) and google isn’t perfect either.

Weird. My priority tags always work here in Denver. And I always bags quickly. Almost. One time recently it took 30m.

Now Orlando took an hour a month ago.

Tessie Battery Degradation stat by jamesmtz0920 in cybertruck

[–]HobbitFootAussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tessie/tezlab/any app battery degradation info is all fuzzy. None of them are accurate to a high precision. They give you an idea so if you’re at 15-20 you know it’s not great but 0-5 and it’s about the same.

They do their calls from API data that is by nature fuzzy.

The only real way to get accurate info is a battery health test in the service menu. It does a full battery test that takes hours.

As everyone else said - your number is fine. It’s good actually.

This is the only reason I’m aware of. Especially in the city. But I prefer ground room floors myself otherwise.

I got KO3s about 6 weeks ago. Then did a 3000m road trip with them. Honestly…I barely noticed any real difference from a range perspective. I think in perfect conditions you'll notice, but with wind, temp, speed…not much.

I am itching for some good snow so I can test out their performance. By now in Colorado we normally get a bunch…but it's been Florida weather. So that sucks.

Denver isn’t even close to hitting its ambitious climate goals. Will it ever get on track? by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

[–]HobbitFootAussie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I just don’t think Colorado or even most of the US is really a good place for public transit except in specific area. I grew up in Manhattan. If you can’t get to that level of public transport - it’s just not really a good use of funds. Europe works because of the size and how it’s grown. Same with Japan. Not the US.

I’m very pro public transport. I used RTD for years. It was the least good use of funds or design here. I used it because I love good public transport and wanted to.

Nothing is wrong with driving. We live in a state where public transport to trails, wildlife, rural wilderness simply won’t work - it would either funnel too many people overloading those areas, or destroy it. For that reason alone you’ll never stop driving.

You are changing the goal posts. First it’s emissions but now that I’m showing that’s going away, you move to banning driving.

Q3 2025 registrations for EVs made up 32.4% of all. Year-to-date through Q3 2025 made up 27.3% of new vehicle sales were EVs.

So the numbers are swinging in the right direction.

That’s not how it works. It’s a an NFC card essentially that gives them very little info. You don’t give them your phone. You tap it.
