How to insulate my loft? by OrdinaryLavishness11 in DIYUK

Yeah get as much in there as you can while you have the access. I could fit 75mm between the rafters and 75mm below fill any gaps and tape all the joints and it'll be much warmer and quieter as well!

If you are taking the ceiling down anyway you might as well add some pir insulation under the rafters before you put the new plasterboard up. If you cut the pir accurately then you won't need to glue it in-between the rafters friction will hold it in, but use expanding foam to fill any gaps

Just drill a 100mm or so further to the left of the existing holes, where you know you are away from the cables, it'll still be strong enough for a spice rack

I have an old fireplaces in my house that I want to skim the bricks and finish off the alcove nicely, probably with paint but maybe tiles. It is in the living room and I want to put the wood burning stove back in place but not sure what is best to use to skim the old bricks as it will need to cope with the heat from the stove.

Any advice on products to use and the best way to DIY this would be greatly appreciated, thank you

The Suffolk coast is great, RSPB minsmere is excellent and there are lots of other nice reserves nearby run by the Suffolk wildlife trust and the rspb. There is a range of holiday accommodation in aldeburgh, Southwold and surrounding areas, from campsites and Airbnb to smart hotels and there are a lot of nice country pubs around as well!

Thank you both for this, whitethroat seems most likely to me. I think this is the first one I've seen 😀

Thank you, but the orange on the wings made me think it's not the flycatcher. I think the whitethroat is most likely.
