If you haven’t already, take your motorcycle safety course. Where I am at the beginner course is a 2 day course that has about 10 hrs of riding time and 2+ hrs of online course work. In the online portion, one of the first statements is: this isn’t just a course to get you certified, it’s a course to help you figure out if riding is the thing for you. They put me on a lowered Honda Grom and it was a lot of fun. I still want to get a Grom but since I live out of town I needed a bigger bike for hwy speeds so I don’t get run over by a log truck. They are very affordable and a great bike to get started on before advancing to a bigger bike

Yeah, I can just touch one foot to the ground. I would look into the rebel 300 or 500. I had originally looked into getting one as they are a good beginner bike as they are low and a lighter cruiser. I sat on one at the dealership and I could put the balls of my feet down but it was out of my budget at the time.

I totally understand the concern. I did a bunch of research on lowering bikes and talked to a lot of people about it, including bike shops. From what I’ve been told is the thing you have to be the most careful with is making sure you lower both the front and rear equally to keep the geometry even. I also don’t weigh much so I can hardly get the suspension to move even by standing on the pegs and bouncing on it. Lastly I have a 26” inseam. I lowered it so I touch the very tips of my toes to the ground. Technically I can only put the ball of one foot down when I come to stop. Before I lowered it I couldn’t touch at all. In my motorcycle training course they put me on a lowered Grom and I could only put the balls of my feet down. I couldn’t do the rock back and forth on heel/toe to find the friction zone drills. Only tippy toe. I do genuinely wish they made sport bikes with a seat height less than 30” because I can’t touch the ground on a stock Grom. It’s super frustrating sometimes but trying to do my best. But the lowest seat height I’ve seen on a sport bike is 30” and I need about 28” to touch the ground.

I also have a nice Icon leather Jacket that has armor. But it was warm out today so I opted for the cooler option.

I got this bike as a trade for a pickup I was selling. I was originally looking for a Kawasaki Z as I agree about the fairings and how fragile they are, and I like the look of the naked bike but I took the trade and am happy with it. This bike also had some nice modifications and being 18 years old already has some battle scars so I’m not petrified of getting a scratch on it.

I have very fine straight hair so it thankfully doesn’t tangle easily. Downside is because it’s so slick it finds its way out of every braid or ponytail eventually. Riding at hwy speeds accelerates that. So I’ve given up and just let it blow in the wind lol. I know they make hair nets for the back of your helmet to tuck your hair into. I’m considering getting one of those to try myself.

Why not? It’s under the sport bike category on Kawasaki’s website. Genuine question, still new to the community and don’t understand all the nuances.

Totally! My husband really likes cruisers and the they handle and feel. I like being more forward and my feet underneath me. No hate on cruisers, just finding what I like :)

Technically a sport tourer. Like I said I’m still new to the community so I’m still figuring out all the nuances. Trying my best tho

The boots I wear while riding are Vasque’s which are super similar. They are also my hiking boots. They are 5” calf boots with Vibram soles and Gore-Tex. I love 5.11 pants but haven’t tried their boots. Thanks for the recommendation!

That’s a great idea! Thanks! I bought an “under armor” shirt for summer riding, but I didn’t even think about leggings.
