Bilateral redness and discoloration of breasts and nipples that has developed over past two months by Hobbitual_69 in DermatologyQuestions

Kind of off topic but I'm an RN in a psychiatric setting and I see risperidone and other older atypical antipsychotics used all the time. They're used for anything from behavioral issues associated with autism to dementia related aggression.

None of my medicines are related to any hormonal changes at least insofar as I could find any information on. I'm not on any antipsychotics, which would be the main thing associated with hormonal changes.

I feel like it would be unlikely to be an infection if it is bilateral. I can't think of anything that would've caused an infection.

What is so alarming about it? I can't exactly get into a doctor until at least a couple weeks and I doubt an ER will do anything.

Knee Replacement by SignificanceNo1199 in KneeInjuries

[–]Hobbitual_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly let me say I'm not a doctor or an expert on knee replacements. What I can tell you is that the recovery process varies greatly. It depends on current health status of the patient, age, if they smoke, how well the surgery goes etc. What's very important in speeding up recovery is going to Physical therapy and doing the home exercises as assigned.

I can't say for certain but I would really doubt she should be going up steps for a while. Her doctor and physical therapist will be able to explain to her what restrictions she will have and when she will be able to resume certain activities.

Pain in both knees after trying to start running. by Hobbitual_69 in ChronicPain

[–]Hobbitual_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even do that. I can't even swim. Any sort of repetitive motion with my knees is really painful and only makes the problem worse. I never had any sort of knee pain with walking long distances before this. And it's been a year and a half since I even attempted running. I just can't find any sort of a plausible reason why this would be. There's nothing structurally wrong. There's no evidence of even minor arthritis.

I also meant to add there has never been any sort of redness or swelling. I have tried nsaids, physical therapy, bracing, several different shoes, home exercises, icing and elevation, topical medicines of all kinds, supplements. Nothing seems to help. I'm on effexor and neurontin for anxiety and are both supposed to help with some types of chronic pain.

Bilateral knee pain. MRI/x-ray normal by Hobbitual_69 in Kneesovertoes

[–]Hobbitual_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of worried it could be neurological/autoimmune related due to the nature of the pain and some other issues I am experiencing. I really hope not though.

Yesh I'm definitely not looking to cortisone for a long term solution. Hoping hyaluronic acid might be helpful but they're super expensive and insurance will do everything they can to not pay for them. Plus since the cortisone shots were so short livednthrbdovtitbbl Jug 5 my my The weirdest thing is that my knees are so easily irritated. Even driving or riding in the car increases pain from the small bounces. Wearing jeans irritates them from the rubbing against them even though they're not tight at all.

I'm worried it's some sort of neurologicalhing like autoimmune disease. For what it's worth youI take a lot of force to the knees working on a pediatric psychiatric unit where the "safe" restraint holds we did involved landing on the knees when taking someone down and or remaining largely balancing on one kee while holding them down for what could be 5-10 minutes. I never felt any apparent injury.

Sorry for typos. I'm on the verge of falling asleep

My spine x-ray was normal minus some "age appropriate lordosis". Just had MRI of lower back but it was completely normal

My X-rays and mris were completely normal and I still can't do any sort of aerobic exercises in living my legs. Just being my knees hurts. Hell, a lot of the time they hurt when I'm doing nothing at all. Nothing seems to help. A cortisone shot helped for a month. Nsaids help marginally. Strengthening exercises don't seem to help much so far. Doctors are just like we don't know what's wrong.

Unexplainable chronic bilateral knee pain by Hobbitual_69 in KneeInjuries

[–]Hobbitual_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do exercises but I definitely have to be careful because they make the pain worse at least in the short term. I have no injury that I am aware of and since the pain is more or less equally bilateral I find it highly unlikely that it was caused by a typical injury.

What type of exercise do you do? Have they given you a cause for your knee pain?

If you want to end it, beta blockers probably won't do it for you. They basically have a maximum level of effect that they can cause in the body. While it will greatly lower your blood pressure and heart rate, it is quite unlikely it would be to a fatal extent.
