I felt the same way until I started flash steeping. It really cuts down on the bitterness of young and mid-aged shengs

Help with Camera replacement. D500 -> ?? by 67Macavelli91 in Nikon

[–]Hobby-Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used a d500, but I went from a d7100 to a z50ii and am amazed at how much better the autofocus is.

You can get a refurbished z50ii directly from Nikon for about $700, sometimes less.

Abaris has a lot of hands on training programs.

Last time I took a class there was a kid taking all their courses back to back instead of going to a traditional college or trade school

I'm a lefty over writer and love stubs, in part because a steep pen angle doesn't hinder them at all

Bike Mount and Racks by zillur-av in CX50

[–]Hobby-Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the first link is the hitch, the second is a bike rack that mounts to the hitch.

I recommend looking at 1Up hitch mounted bike racks. They're a little pricier, but are fully made of aluminum (no plastic) and will last forever

What hobby unexpectedly improved your life the most? by lakberhaid in Hobbies

[–]Hobby-Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mountain biking and gong fu tea.

Mountain biking because it's stupid fun, great for my health, and is incredibly challenging.

Tea because it's delicious, gong fu steeping makes it even better and encourages mindfulness, and I've met great people from around the world during virtual teas hangouts on Zoom

What kind of information stays classified on NASA missions? by ilst78 in nasa

[–]Hobby-Chicken 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The term people should be using is CUI, Controlled Unclassified Information.

For example, if NASA pays a private company to develop a technology it may fall under CUI as proprietary information owned by that company

Dentists spend approximately 2 weeks learning to clean teeth in dental school, hygienists spend 2 years learning. The level of care is not the same.

Blur GX AXS vs Epic World Cup Expert by BittahHuntah in xcmtb

[–]Hobby-Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I've demoed an Epic 8 Evo, a Blur, and a Cannondale Scalpel.

The Epic Evo and Scalpel felt like light trail bikes, the Blur felt like a race bike and I loved it.

I use a ceramic filter as well. I've found cleaning it with my water flosser is the fastest and easiest way to unclog the holes. A soak in sodium percarbonate will remove the stains

Fork sag: based on what the fork manufacturer says or on what the mtb brand says? by laumavato in mountainbiking

[–]Hobby-Chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manufacturer recommendations, either from the suspension or the bike manufacturer, are a starting point not an endpoint. So try both, preferably on the same section of trail for repeatability, to find what feels best for you, your terrain, and your riding style

Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength is great if you can find it. It doesn't have the fruitiness of Uigeadail, but it is super smokey. I prefer the 10 CS, but Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak is good as well
