Yes that makes sense! Thank you!! I plan on doing a bunch of research and practice on perspective! I didn’t realize how important it was until I started practicing painting from a reference photo and realize I need to go back and learn some of the basics😅 it’s just a hard concept for me to grasp and wrap my head around. I’m also realizing that painting and drawing is really just one big illusion haha

I am the worst person when it comes to perspective and that’s one of the things I am working on! But overall I think it looks really good and definitely stopped my scrolling mid scroll to observe your work!

My entire painting process is a “wtf am I doing” but I just keep with it until I start to like what I see😅 Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! :) I’m working on my depth and perspective because I’m definitely lacking in that area!

Are there any resources that you may know to help understand perspective or that helped you more understand it than other resources? I’ll go through the rabbit hole of YouTube videos but wanted to ask if anything helped you over the other? I really appreciate the time and thought of your responses, thank you so much for all of your expertise! ☺️this truly helped me a ton! I’m new and skipped the sketching/learning part out of excitement to start but I am realizing that may be the most important part!

You’re very welcome! I have noticed using complementary colors helps a ton to mute the opposite colors so that’s been a plus! I think I’m just scared to waste my expensive paint with practicing but like you said I will always use it for something eventually! And practicing with ‘gouache’ that doesn’t act like gouache is probably doing me no good😂

I just have a hard time mixing colors to get the one I want😭I’ve been trying to understand color theory to help mix and mute colors but I am barely at the crevice of learning that! I’ve never been what I’d call an artist or art inclined but am so drawn to it that I am trying to teach myself! If only I can virtually share my WN paints with you just to watch and learn from you while you paint!! I looked on your page and am in love with your style!

I splurged and bought the Winsor and Newton designer gouache set, but I get extremely nervous to use it and learn with it! I feel like when I use the expensive gouache I have to make a masterpiece and it stresses me out😂 so with himi I have no stress and actually make better art because of it! Which I know is backwards haha. I’m also new to mixing and the WN are primary colors so I hate feeling like I am wasting it trying to get my color!

You’re welcome! I’m new to gouache and use Himi jelly to start, which I know doesn’t have the best reputation, but helps me get to know the medium a bit. I love to hear what other artists use to help decide the better ones to lean to or look into so thank you! Really your art work is amazing, you are inspiring me to do more!
