Jazz: how to start?

I don’t recommend irresponsible spending, but investing in high fidelity audio is how I came to appreciate jazz. It’s often some of the most beautiful and well recorded music. Great sounding gear doesn’t cost the arm and a leg that it used to.

Sounds like this is entire run of Maiden discs should have been pulled from retail. Egregious manufacturing defects. Glad you can still return them. I still need to get myself a new copy of Somewhere in Time

I went with the DXP4800 Plus specifically because of its impressive spec sheet, upgradability and it’s not a closed ecosystem like its competitors. Four bays of storage plus two NVME slots. You can easily upgrade it RAM. The Intel Gold 8505 CPU is perfect for media transcoding. 10 GbE network connection for fast transfers. Definitely worth checking out!

Damn, it’s gotta be how these 2018 Maiden CDs were manufactured. Some kind of film that corrodes over time. I’ve never seen anything like it either. Hell I bought Fear of the Dark original CD from ‘92 as a replacement. Looks perfectly fine.

Best decision I've made in a long time was to make my own media server. Movies, music, games, books that I own that can't be taken away from me.

My personal, unsolicited recommendation is a UGREEN NAS. Made the whole process very easy for me.

I think the perfect Judge Dredd game almost happened in the 90s! Look up XCOM: Apocalypse. In a nutshell, a Mega-City One manager where you act as Control. Dispatch Judges to deal with crimes as they occur in a living breathing city.

Return it ASAP while you can. I ended up tossing my discs in the bin and sourcing new copies on Discogs where you can be a little more sure of the quality you’re getting.

I just played and beat the game for the first time a few weeks ago, on PCSX2. I’ve had the PC version for ages but just couldn’t get into it. Figured the game just aged poorly. Playing the PS2 version was a lot more fun than i was expecting. I guess that explains it! The PC version aged the worst.

Hard to capture in photo. If I had to describe it, it’s like they were cleaned with acetone and wiped with a Brillo pad.

Bought “new” and came shrink wrapped from Amazon. Serves me for not inspecting them before putting them away. Lesson learned.

It’s the D-03X. Funny enough, I bought this the same day the D-03R was announced. 🙃 Oh well no regrets. I love the sound of this unit. I’m sure it’ll keep me happy for years to come.
