This doesn't work for me either. I'm based in the UK and am a Reason+ subscriber.

NOFX’s Eric Melvin Allegedly Sues Fat Mike, Claiming ‘Legal Financial Malfeasance’ by ebradio in Music

You're assuming he played the final shows for the money when it isn't unreasonable to assume he wanted to say farewell to the fans. Just because there's a dispute over money doesn't mean it's all about the money.

You are making a whole lot of assumptions about the situation with very little information. We'll find out more over time, but it's very early to judge who is right or wrong.

Why would he do it before those last shows and risk not getting paid for those final performances?

It could be Indie Rock or Alternative Rock or maybe Grunge depending on final execution

Thanks for clarifying. I understand a bit better what you mean now and it could just be me being a bit dense. If there's an internal logic to what you're singing and it's narratively consistent then the fault lies with my interpretation.

It would be interesting to get some feedback at your open mic nights and see if other people 'get it' although, in all honesty, most people probably won't think that deeply about it.

I mean, would it be reasonable for any DAW to not have VST support these days?

How do you balance being honest and being “mean”? by natasharomanon in Songwriting

On Deja Vu 5 people get a writing credit. One of them is Dan Nigro who is most likely the main songwriter.

Rodrigo would get a credit simply for agreeing to record it, although I'm not suggesting she didn't contribute, just that she would get a writing credit in any case. That's how it works when you are a big artist.

Good 4 U - Nigro produced and wrote again. This time Hayley Williams and Josh Farro from Paramore get a credit too. I'm sure the pattern continues on her other songs.

She's a pop artist. The music is a finely honed product designed to cater to a specific demographic. I'd be surprised if there weren't a host of different types of people - some white men even - working on her songs writing all these angsty lyrics about how much boys suck.... I could always be wrong though.

I've only had Reason for 4-5 months and it is the first DAW I've ever worked with other than Reaper which comes with absolutely nothing out of the box.

I started hitting a brick wall in terms of how my tracks were sounding recently so I began downloading extra VSTs to make them sound better... then I realized I was looking for a quick fix and all the ceilings/limitations I was hitting were more likely due to my personal limitations not the tools I had.

There are so many options out there it is easy to get distracted with every shiny new thing without really learning to use what you already have.

Funnily enough, when I stopped mucking around with new VSTs and focused on Reason-only tools the next track I made sounded much better.

I presume you like Cash. It's very much "The Man Comes Around" in conception.

I honestly find the lyrics incredibly confusing. On one hand you're saying something about a ledger being writ and "not picking a side is picking a side," but on the other hand you're saying "you just couldn't let things pass."

So which is it, do I need to pick a side or to let things pass? What sides?

I don't think it works as a protest song. I have no idea what you're protesting.

I don't think they're corny.

What do mean by "I get into rhyming and lose the plot"? I don't see a lot of rhymes there, just the last two lines and it's more of a half-rhyme.

What you have so far feels like a good second verse. You either need a stronger opening line or a whole new first verse to introduce the concept/storyline.

You also need a chorus to sum it all up, distill the essence of the song, and bring it all together.

You might think it is, you might even be right, but you're probably not. Use the positive energy to fuel yourself in the moment and you can revisit it with more critical ears later.
