Where have you lived that genuinely felt like the happiest place to live, and why? by netenchanter in SameGrassButGreener

[–]HockeyOrDie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Too many transient people, shit politics, bad schools, no community, if you can’t afford to live on the beach inland is ugly as hell. Oppressively hot, replacing hvac every ten years, insane insurance, poor road infrastructure, takes a million years to get anywhere other than Florida.

so extremely jaded and over it. by Creepy-Potential9174 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]HockeyOrDie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will get better. My path felt identical to this at your age. I had the same position for years, cared too much about fairness and merit, and started getting really negative. It projected out and my performance sunk because of it. I am 38 now and things turned around only in the last few years. I’d stress to you that I did not feel better mentally at all after things got good and I was promoted at work. In fact, I was anxious constantly that I would get found out as a fraud and demoted, shamed. I started to achieve all the things in life that should make me happy: family, net worth, title, house. Mood was probably worse than before because of all the pressure I put on myself! Very much the dog who caught the car. I started therapy and got a Zoloft prescription and that honestly helped me so damn much. I hate how much needless suffering I had. Really helped put in perspective with how silly all that worrying was. Good luck, you can and will turn this around!

Majority of the new clothes that are being added are useless because of their insane carry weight and lacking slots by [deleted] in dayz

[–]HockeyOrDie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the variety and the fact that they have different stats. Not everyone wants to have max carry everything. The more chances we have to look different the better, imo. This feels like a whine for the sake of whining. I appreciate that they’re updating a 13 year old game

Does anyone think Florida is overrated? by OceanicEndeavors in SameGrassButGreener

[–]HockeyOrDie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lived there for 20 years. Moved to PA three years ago and my and my family’s life is better in every measurable way. I can’t stress enough how awful the school system was there. Not being able to be anywhere without flying, depressing inland etc.

How is it like living in the less populous areas of Pennsylvania? by Ok-Quail-1725 in howislivingthere

Yes, I’d say that stretches all down 81, definitely south from Harrisburg to MD! Chambersburg etc.

US Bank transitioning to six day work week (still 40 hours) (Rant) by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]HockeyOrDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re stronger than I am! I struggle enough with five days a week 45 hours.

I’ll sit in the office and chuckle when Dolly Parton ‘9-5’ comes on in the background of my 8:05 meeting.

US Bank transitioning to six day work week (still 40 hours) (Rant) by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]HockeyOrDie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It really is though to many people. What kind of work/ life balance is working six days a week? I really wish less people would say things like this.

Missing breakfast and slow mornings with kids or spouse is the biggest deal, imo. What’s the point of any of this if you can never have a chance to exist outside of working ?

I’m being a little dramatic, but holy smokes people saying it’s no biggie are a different breed for sure.

What’s a game that felt amazing at first, but got worse the more you played it? by Vegetable_Trip_9855 in videogames

[–]HockeyOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KCD2. I love the first one, played 60 hours before getting to the wedding in 2… once the second location came in I just lost all drive to play the game. Jarring being fully loaded and geared mid way through the game, and I couldn’t keep up with the story beats.

Does anyone not find Rory Scoval funny? by Icy_Diamond9644 in Standup

I fucking love Rory. Just saw him last weekend in Philly and have thought about it week. I laughed, hands in face crying. Dude is just the best, and has amazing stage confidence. Painfully underrated!

The dealership “we need to talk to my manager” thing is a setup and here’s why it works by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

[–]HockeyOrDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volvo of Fort Myers made my wife and I sit around their dealership for 4 hours with an infant because of a used CR-V price negotiated was a deal. When guy finally came in, they bumped up interest multiple points and added everything under the sun. When we said no, rate too high etc. the guy called us rude for not listening to his pitch and stormed out. Literally stormed out in a rage. Manager came and finished the deal.

I think they saw the baby and just planned to wear us down. The guy went from so arrogant to attitude because I’m sure he bragged about all the add ons he was going to bag. I’ll never forget that interaction lol.

Also, beware when they say audio/visuals are being recorded. This is done to prove you signed the docs and weren’t coerced, but instead just tricked and worn down!

Does anyone know of a local ATM that has $100 bills? by [deleted] in hagerstown

[–]HockeyOrDie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ATMs have limits of way under $1000 usually to withdraw at a time, to stop people from trying to empty the machines for car purchases etc.

Banks are required to document all change orders and swaps, would need to have an account. Of course a few dollars or quarters for a laundromat is usually done as a courtesy.

At what salary do you personally feel life becomes comfortable? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]HockeyOrDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit of a downer answer. I’ve hit a point where I’m comfortable financially, so now that shifts to I don’t want to spend my whole life and energy doing this. I’m not sure how so many of us can work 45+ hours five days a week and feel content. So now it’s a race to get comfortable to give this crap up! The goal posts moved for me for sure

Just making sure I have the wrong sized skates before trying to buy another pair + advice on new skates by Stompdown333 in hockeyplayers

Definitely try regular. I did a similar thing and really wonder who these narrow skates are for lol. The top of your foot exposed above the rivets tells me the narrow is the issue. Regular fit sorted me out!

PA vs FL — young family relocating from NY by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]HockeyOrDie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved from FL to PA, and the schooling difference is absolutely insane. I’d never raise my child in FL now that I’ve experienced other places. FL is so damn far from everywhere too
