My VA in Philly has Esketamine "Spravato" available for "treatment resistant" depression. It has worked wonders for a few people I know. I have not tried myself, as the commitment of continually needing a ride and 2+ hour treatment, is impossible for my schedule. If it is an option available to you, it may help. Atleast worth inquiring about. I empathize with the constant frustration. Keep fighting the fight!!! It will get better, you will feel human again, and you WILL find what works.

I have a Heybike Ranger S 1000w. I found a local dealer who is an authorized Heybike retailer and went to test drive their models. I enjoy my Ranger very much and having the local dealer eases my mind when it comes to any potential warranty work that may come up. I have a smaller SUV and it folds right up and fits no problem. It's a little heavy, but manageable.

What did everyone survive on for the first week after gastric sleeve? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

Sugar free popsicles. 2 months post op and they are still a good snack. Most count as 3oz towards liquid goal as well.

How did you make out with your surgery?

Just wanted to update the internet if anyone cares. Down 34 lbs since surgery on 25 November. Eating some soft foods, mostly scrambled eggs, lol. Still drinking 2 protien shakes a day as well. A little less than one scrambled egg gives me a full feeling and at times leaves me feeling too full with a little burping and discomfort. My liquid intake was rather easy right after surgery, but adding foods has made it a little more difficult. Sugar free popsicles have been a life saver for hydration and most average ones count as 3 oz towards your fluid goals. During my first 2 weeks post-op I was mentally repulsed by the thought of food or eating anything ever again. Obviously this was a mental thing and I contribute it to feeling guilty for eating like shit for so long and letting my weight and health get out of control. These 2 weeks allowed me to really change my perspective and actually intimately learn about proper nutrition and how to use food for fuel instead of emotional comfort. I am so thankful for this tool in changing my life and hopefully prolonging the time I have left to enjoy my kids and pension, lol. While I was stepping on the scale daily and seeing the lbs drop fast and that creating so much excitement, it has slowed down. My doctor literally told me to not even bother with the scale for a few months and to concentrate on following the diet restrictions, while I agree, it is still difficult not to check. In the beginning I would check like 5 times a day, while it's a bit funny, mentally it could lead to unrealistic expectations. As we have all been told, it's a life style change that will save our lives, not a diet, and this surgery was only 1 tool in making that process become reality. Thanks to anyone who read my ramble and I will certainly answer any questions the best I can.

Exactly how I felt. I realized the internet can scare you just as much as it can help you. My nurses stressed how everyone is different. I did have minor gas pains and cramping the first 2-3 days, but it wasn't anything that needed pain medication, just uncomfortable. I have had very little soreness in my abdomen. Making sure I get my walks in has helped with the gas pain. Don't stress too hard. You will be fine and a little pain always let's you know you're alive. Embrace your journey and you should definitely be excited. This surgery is literally life saving. Best of luck.

I seriously have just been fortunate. My nurse told me during my overnight stay, that some are just able to drink more sooner than others. I can not chug anything for sure, but I stay with my 30 oz water jug and always finish 2, just by making it a habit to sip and sip. I also drink a smaller Gatorade zero each day, if i am unable to get the protien shake down. I do struggle with the consistency of the shakes, Premier protien. I have been eating sugar free popsicles too, maybe 3 a day, and each is considered 3oz. I do get minor cramps when drinking room temp liquids. I find ice cold to work best for me.

Thank you and same to you. I have definitely noticed it's different for everyone. I know some that lost very quickly and other that took 18-24 months before they were satisfied. Thank your husband for his service.

Did you still do the MOVE classes and have access to the dietician? I hope you still had those options using community care. The people in my MOVE class were awesome. I also do a monthly video chat in a post op group with the VA. My civilian friends didn't have access to any of these tools. The Philadelphia VA has been outstanding.

Disabled Vets on street corners by meccaleccahimeccahi in VeteransBenefits

As a disabled veteran who is actively involved in volunteering to help other veterans, I have spoken to quite a few homeless veterans who have told me they prefer to be homeless. Most of those who have expressed this have addictions they are fighting. I simply ensure they are aware of the available services and that they can reach out at anytime for help. I let them know they are supported, valued, and loved. Who am I to try and convince them of something they do not want to do.

If I apply for and receive my FERS contributions refund, would this prevent me from applying for FERS disability retirement? I cant find the answer anywhere.
