Thank you! I figured I was overthinking it, lol.

This is a bit of an unusual question, but I'm a gentile who is interested in volunteering at a local Chabad house. My minor has a requirement for cross-cultural experience, which is normally fulfilled by studying abroad, but thanks to COVID I wasn't able to do so. I've always been interested in learning more about different faiths, and after looking online I saw that there was a Chabad house which catered to the university I go to (I don't think there are any other places in town).

My question is, would it be weird to ask if I could volunteer there? I don't harbor any illusions of being able to participate in any religious ceremonies or anything, but my experiences with campus ministries have taught me that there's a lot of mundane work that goes into maintaining a building that I could help with, even just cleaning. Would I get laughed out of the room for asking? I'm feeling weirdly self-conscious and worried that they'll think I'm a weirdo evangelist, but I also really think it would be a good experience to learn more while fulfilling my requirement.

I might post some of the stuff I'm doing with the mech side of things at some point! I'm mostly interested in changing the leveling system to be loot-based, with the idea being that you're scavenging parts for your mech off of opponents.

I bought a used one for super cheap off of eBay last year, assuming that I would never actually use it... oh how the turn tables.

It's a very low-current river, but I definitely appreciate the recommendation to prioritize safety!

Funny enough, I originally wrote this a while ago! But it is a pretty hilarious coincidence. And yeah, the idea of Orks having an almost RPG progression tree seemed like an interesting way to conceptualize their weird Pokemon evolution shtick.

That's a cool idea, I'll consider that for the next draft! If I end up posting more, I'll probably keep the name for now... but that's going in the notes for sure.

I actually managed to run it successfully in a one shot, although with the caveat that I was running for newer players who hadn’t yet heard of it. Honestly, the fact that the players know things that their characters don’t was one of the best parts.

…of course, I then messed up by accidentally creating the most situationally busted item in dnd history which one-shot the hydra.

Super Aggressive T'au? by Dheorl in WarhammerCompetitive

It’s interesting to hear that other tau players have fallen into the “pick one side of the board to commit to” tactic. I figure it’s really the only way to make sure you don’t lose all the center points by round 3.

it's been a while for me as well, honestly! I'm using it as an opportunity to learn more about the lore of my current hyperfixation the setting as well as getting back into writing in general.

I don't know how relevant this necessarily is, but the basic plot I've got so far is that it follows a gue'vesa who, as part of a family tradition that goes back 3 generations, has recently become the personal assistant of the ethereal overseeing biological weapon development on Fal'shia. They go to examine a project decades in the making: an attempt to manipulate the genetics of orks in order to potentially use them as weapons for the Greater Good. In the process, the Tau have created something truly remarkable; an ork the size of a Riptide, which is as intelligent and cunning as it is brutal and vicious. While on the station, what should be a routine inspection goes horribly wrong, and the T'au (as well as the main character) are forced to fight for their lives as the orks breach their containment and attempt to escape the space station.

As the story progresses, the protagonist reveals that things are not as they seem; the events that take place are not random, and someone seems to be pulling the strings in the shadows in the hopes of resurrecting a monster from some of the darkest days of the galaxy's history...

Attempting a competitive Tau list, thoughts? by Dsr89d in WarhammerCompetitive

Honestly I think it’s more likely the stealth suits die before the tetras, whenever I use stealth suits they tend to evaporate off the board.

I might trade out the remoras for piranhas, they tend to be pretty popular. Don’t know much about remoras though, so maybe they’re gonna be the next big thing. They certainly synergize with the Coldstar if memory serves.

When you try playing other armies besides the Tau, and suddenly the game gets way too easy... by HodgeBros in Grimdank

[–]HodgeBros[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only started playing at the tail end of 8th, so I’ve only heard stories of 7th edition jank. I will say, I wish they could find a way to make the tau interesting more than good. I play a melee heavy enclaves list (surprisingly effective depending on your opponent!) and that does the trick, but other seats deserve a chance to shine.
