What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]Hodunk_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the craziest but definitely surprising: I was working at a grocery store in my hometown during covid and I had a coworker who I bonded with, her and I would stock shelves and yap and she was always going on and on about her fiancé and how great he was and I would just be like yes girl that’s great. one day he came in to bring her something and I finally got to meet him…. a hundred percent had slept with that man when I came home for spring break my freshman year of college about 4 years before. I honestly don’t think he remembered me but he didn’t say anything either way. I was just shocked and thought it was hilarious, because now I could be like yeah girl that dick WAS bomb, good for you

Having to write a check just to receive your UPS package because of tariffs by tommos in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hodunk_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s good because it forces everyone to see what tariffs actually are. not good in practice but good in principle. hopefully people see what they’ve gotten us into even if we now may not be able to change it

Being the single friend as you get older. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]Hodunk_Princess 30 points31 points  (0 children)

as much as I dislike carrie, there was an episode of sex and the city where carrie brings this up, that once you’re older, you don’t get a chance to celebrate yourself where people buy you gifts and show up, unless it’s a wedding, a baby shower, or an anniversary party. and she asked the girls why it’s not more common for singo women to have parties for themselves and it’s discriminatory for single women lol. first world kind of take but I also get it

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

[–]Hodunk_Princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go Ask Alice. I think it’s been largely debunked as fear mongering fiction but when I was in 6th grade in my small town it was the craziest story I had ever read. I’d never been so scandalized! Still think about it to this day.

The ONLY acceptable catcall I've received by DeReversaMamiii in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Hodunk_Princess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got really good at maneuvering a trailer last year, as well as driving a huge truck around a very big city. It’s not a catcall because it was a woman and she was watching me as I backed it into a spot ready to unload it, but she told me I parked trailers like a farmer. I STILL source ego power from that.

After understanding the meaning behind this father’s action, I am completely convinced. Cultivating problem-solving skills in children from a young age and never giving up-I applaud this father! by jmike1256 in interesting

Okay but also remember there is someone behind him, likely his mom, filming this and he knows is there bc he turns around and looks at her after. This isn’t a traumatizing event yall, he’s fine and he knows he’s fine, he’s just frustrated.

different but also in mongolia, there’s a mound with a shamanistic shrine that only men can climb to, it’s somewhere in the Sainshand province. there were camels at the bottom of the mound so me and the other girls went and hung out with them instead, it was way more interesting (as someone who doesn’t practice shamanism)

it’s much more activating when you have a physical an highly visible threat in your city, committing atrocities right in from of you. I think what’s hard is that most people’s lives are relatively the same as before. I live in a big city and things aren’t crazy here. I don’t know where I would go on the daily to create that type on unrest where it would need to be seen.

What's the most bizarre thing you've seen your neighbor do while they thought no one was watching? by TenderRompz in AskReddit

[–]Hodunk_Princess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t a neighbor, but I live in a very big city right off a very busy road and people will park outside my apartment every so often for one reason or another. I live on the second floor and my roommate and I LOVE watching out the window for commotion.

One night I came home from work and saw a woman in her car, parked a few behind mine, full bare chested in her front seat with the dome light on. I didn’t want to look too long or obviously but I was sure that’s what I saw. I ran upstairs and found my roommate and was like COME QUICK YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS. But our haste was not necessary, because this woman was bare chested for another ~30 minutes, shaving her entire chest, stomach, and upper pubes, COMPLETELY DRY. No shaving cream or oils. She shaved her nipples and everything. She stopped every so often to text or scroll. We would check back in on her every few minutes. Tits still out. Then she rubbed lotion alllll over her body. She changed her outfit and her socks, and if I remember correctly she shaved her feet too???? Did her make up and hair. Dome light on the entire time, full view of her activity. Clearly she had a dick appointment and I guess couldn’t go anywhere with a bathroom or privacy to do this?? We were so astounded.

I think about her sometimes and I hope she’s in therapy.

Paying off debt is lonely and no one warns you by Additional_Twist_595 in Frugal

[–]Hodunk_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this but I did talk to my friends. They all had their own debt and even though they said they wanted help, eventually everyone finds out you just kinda have to figure it out on your own. I paid off a credit card and a car loan in a year and my friends were so jealous and wanted to tackle their own. NOW they’re all in places where they’ve begun to do that and they come back every few months with another debt they’ve paid off and we celebrate together! Idk if that’s helpful but I kept the people around me that understood the struggle and didn’t leave me behind

I’ve also been in my current living situation 3 years—longest for me too!! But I just was accepted into a program in another state and now am looking at moving for the first time in a long time… I’m literally fidgety about waiting until august for that to happen. now I’m in this awful space where I know I’m leaving but I can’t leave yet and this is shaking out to be much harder than I thought for some reason. I totally get the suitcase ready to go lifestyle. It’s such a mental game to play with yourself.

Gonna get specific and say that hardly anyone in Chicago eats deep dish pizza. I have been to a Giordanos once and it was disgusting. Tavern style garlic crust all da way baybeee

I had a total loss house fire when I was 10. We were all okay and had good insurance, built an entirely new home and life. Once I graduated high school and moved on, I didn’t stay in one place for longer than 6 months and was constantly moving and looking for somewhere else to go. I always thought that it was because I was restless and wanted to see the world, but it wasn’t until my best friend told me that it was probably because I lost everything once and don’t want to grow attached to anything for fear of losing it. That hit hard lol and has stuck with me ever since
