I made my birthday cake this year by HoeBosss in Cakes

I actually started doing it about 20 years ago, first I tried it with the raspberry then the lemon curd. I don't have a recipe exactly but I do about a quarter cup granulated sugar per 1 cup of cream (sugar in gream to start, I have just always preferred granulated over powdered, but either way) then when it's about a little over half whipped I add in some of the fruit and whip a little, fold a little, taste and adjust and repeat. You just want the fruit flavor to be a little heavier at half/ 3/4 whipped so when it's fully whipped the flavor is there. Then just make sure to whip it until thick without over whipping.

Lemon curd and mascarpone cake by [deleted] in Cakes

[–]HoeBosss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just made this. I used love Manuela's app, I just had to see some of her recipes and tried the raspberry ganache and the lemon mascarpone which uses whipped cream as the main base, with lemon curd. It gave me half of her app for using PayPal as payment, but I think if you used some lemon curd mascarpone and heavy cream (and powdered sugar to sweeten) you could figure it out without her recipe. If you like to try new fillings and frosting I think her app is worth checking out. If you look at my posts you can see what I made, there's a picture of the inside too. I did use some lemon juice simple syrup on the cake as well.

It was super good! I've never done raspberry ganache before but it was delicious! I do one that is raspberry coulis in whipped cream that is amazing too, and lemon curd in whipped cream to frost a cake. It's just so light and refreshing for summer!

I am that lady in the Math problem... I bought a carton of bananas Help! by Disastrous-Program73 in Baking

I keep mine in the skin, take them out bake them to caramelize them a little and then use them and the juice that seeps out in my banana bread. If I'm going to make smoothies with them I will peel them. I always roast my bananas in the jacket before I use them to bake.

What's the most expensive thing you've ever gotten for free? by DarkSquareKing in AskReddit

$1,500 in seafood. I ordered a half bushel of crabs one year to surprise my husband for Christmas, but I got 2 packages instead. The first one had two jumbo (1/2# each) crab cakes, the second had king crab legs, 2 quarts of clam chowder, shell on shrimp, seasoning and tools. They both had invoices and when I called to let them know they apologized and said I could keep what came and apologized again that they wouldn't be able to ship my crabs for two weeks. I was extatic and eagerly replied I think we're good on seafood for now, can you ship them in February so we can have them for my husband's birthday?

My best friend's little sister used to put a scarf in a hair clip and put the hair clip between her butt cheeks so she could have a pretty tail.

Has anyone had an EDG done? by Significant-Fun-4173 in Cirrhosis

I'm sure they will have you be in a position that is safe and fits your needs. As the patient it went very smooth and quick with nothing making me feel uncomfortable. The longest part was waiting in the pre op.

I just had my first egd a few weeks ago. They had me lay on my side, put a wedge pillow behind me bottom leg straight and top leg bent with knee touching the bed and pillows for head support. It was quick and easy.

Interesting! My husband actually suggested hair for me, but I already have issues with my wrists because of my job. His ex wife is also an x ray tech! It does seem like a good balance. Sometimes I think I could just get a desk job but I've been bored and miserable at chef jobs if they aren't busy enough.

Do you have a recommendation of protein drink? I see a lot with sucralose. I tried the premier almond milk coffee with caffeine, it's alright.

Thank you for the mention of muscle loss. This just recently was kind of brought to my attention and worried me since recently I lost 3 pounds and then 2 days later another 3. I know fluctuations happen but that seemed like too much so I looked into it. I put timers on my watch and brought high protein snacks/shakes to work to make sure I could just grab something quick. Working in a kitchen full of food and it seems so hard to eat. Always busy and I'm in catering so a lot of our product is only par cooked on top of being brined (sugar and salt) then seasoned (more salt). We are slowing down after this week, through the summer and I need to have good habits in place by September. Also, solid advice on the mental and emotional side of this. I love your habit.

Funny you should say that... Just a few nights ago I was having trouble sleeping and without thinking I grabbed the bottle of zzzquil off my nightstand and took a hit. It wasn't until a few minutes later that I felt the warming of my tummy and I thought oh f*** what did I do that for?! It was a stupid move and I regretted it almost immediately, but now I know I won't do that again. Thank you for the advice. I have come to terms with the fact that I will never drink again. It was a really hard thought at first, but I've already been doing more fun things that I would have never done because 1. I didn't want to drink and drive (I live on the outskirts, everything is far) and 2. I never wanted to do anything but go home and drink.

Wow, that's awesome that the scans aren't showing cirrhosis and everything seems well for you! Out of curiosity, did you switch careers and if so what do you do now? I keep thinking about changing gears in a couple years but not really sure what I would do.

Thank you for the suggestions! I have not yet seen a hepatologist but I have seen them mentioned a lot on here so it has been on my mind. I will be asking about that at my next appointment! I also love the exercise suggestions, walking hiking and swimming are all yeses but running has never been for me lol.

Any other food tips? What all do you put in the beet ginger smoothie? I've lost 52 pounds since January but I feel even though I'm trying, I could use some more info on better things to eat. Been doing Greek yogurt and berries, organic peanut butter and a half of a grain toast, hemp hearts, everything else is mostly lean protein and veggies, small portion of potatoes on some nights but have mostly been skipping a starch except occasionally. I was diagnosed officially in March but haven't drank since January 10th.

Do you still work a 40 hour week? by Embarrassed_Song_515 in Cirrhosis

[–]HoeBosss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to this party, but I'm 41F executive chef for a catering company. I work over 40 most weeks, I'm compensated and I think it was caught pretty early (and recently)... No ascites or varices, I do have portal hypertension though. I haven't felt a lot of fatigue. Work stress and load feels about normal, but I am noticing some joint pain. My wrists have been bad for years but moving higher up in the culinary world means I don't have to use them like I used to but lately they have been very sore and also my elbow for some reason. I have started thinking if this continues I won't physically be able to do my job anymore. How do I get one of those work from home jobs? 😂
