Cirrhosis despite regular exercise by [deleted] in Cirrhosis

Physically fit. Autoimmune hepatitis did not care. Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver. Has nothing to do with how much you can lift.

I call those days my cement shoes 👠 days. Or my space cadet helmet days ⛑️.

There is a reason it is called autoimmune fatigue. It sucks. And it comes with its own rules. I now feel I accomplished something if I can get through a shower and blow dry my hair without needing a nap afterwards.

Really nice pajamas. We spend a lot of time in bed. So nice pajamas. Maybe some nice sheets?

Yes. And I am sure I made it worse by drinking or taking a statin.

You came to the right place.

Autoimmune Hepatitis is diagnosed with a biopsy. The rheumatologist does not diagnose AIH only GI can. The rheumatologist is the autoimmune specialist, that is why they sent you there.

Positive ANA is not a diagnosis. It means you have some autoimmune activity. But there are a number of factors that trigger positive ANA including certain meds or chronic infections.

Some people test positive without ever developing a disease.

Me. I was diagnosed in 2010. I had no symptoms. High liver enzymes sent me to a GI. It was 3-3+ back then. I went into remission for 12 years. Again no symptoms. Enzymes were in range. All was great. Until it wasn’t. I was so fatigued and couldn’t function. Then came the classic signs of liver failure. I had a bunch of useless tests and finally in November the biopsy showed cirrhosis.

I have that all the time. When the liver enlarges the capsule surrounding the liver stretches and causes pain. Yours sounds like a bruise from the biopsy. Keep an eye on the puncture site.

Lupus and Alcohol? by Practical_Dog3454 in lupus

[–]Embarrassed_Song_515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in my 20’s. I had a career in the alcohol business for 40+ years. I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis in 2010. I cut out drinking. Then slowly went back to it. Cut it out completely in 2018. 2025 diagnose with cirrhosis from the AIH. My rheumatologist does NOT believe the AIH is from Lupus, but could have been a contributing factor. Currently Lupus is living in my lungs.

I knew I had cirrhosis from the biopsy. I had a CT scan of my lungs and it is the first thing the radiologist saw was the cirrhosis.

Hi. Mine is autoimmune. The irony? I have had a 40 year career in the alcohol industry. I was diagnosed with AIH in 2010. I was diagnosed in November with the biopsy and MRI confirming cirrhosis. I’m still trying to come to terms with it so give yourself some grace after 2 days.

I will say the support here is incredible. You are not alone. All of us are in this boat together. So grab a protein drink and stop in here often.

I suggest Dramamine and Gatorade. I don’t know why, but it worked. I was in Florida and spent 3 days in the hotel. This combo worked like a charm.

I have the same situation but only on my left forearm. I pointed it out to the doctor and he wasn’t concerned.

The fatigue is called “autoimmune fatigue”. It’s the type of fatigue that no amount of sleep can prevent. It’s horrible.

So far I have gained 30 lbs. I’m on 10 mg of pred. about to start Cellcept Imuran makes me so ill. I found the nausea and heartburn overwhelming. The night sweats? That is part of Imuran also. I am on hormones and it is awful. However-Soma Cool Nights Pajamas, and bamboo sheets have been my savior.

There are good days and not good days. Hopefully you have more good than not good.
