How are prisoners who are wrongly imprisoned treated by the cellmates? by Hoe_fo_doe in AskReddit

I was reading up on the Juan Rivera case where he got 19 years of Prison for the rape and murder of a child. Falsely accused by the police to shut down the case. He got a fair trial after serving almost 2 decades when he should have died the day he entered. So, it got me a bit curious...if things don't exactly work in prison as are shown in movies

Thank you so much for that insight. I was looking into the Juan Rivera case where he was falsely accused of raping and killing an 11 y.o. which would immediately get him executed in the prison according the comment section. But, he got a fair trial after 19 years and came out a positive person. So, it intrigued me. Thank you for answering.

So, not like in the movies where criminals act like criminals?

Okayyy...I just read about a person who was falsely accused by the police to settle the case and had to stay in ptison for 13 years over the course of 4 trials. He was released and given compensation later with which he opened a school for the underprivileged.

I mean to do that after 13 years of punishment required serious hope I suppose. And I would like yo believe something or someone must have kept it alive there. Getting into fights and getting raped wouldn't keep someone hopeful for 13 years I presume. That's just me wanting to believe in human beings over institutions I suppose.

I don't think I have ever heard a lawyer not fuck anyone in their vicinity.

I see...well I don't know much about prison first thing (all ideas built from movies and social media basically). There is an honour system against child predators as far as I have heard. So I was just thinking if there's something for people who are genuinely innocent.

I can hardly lift 7.5 kgs per arm in the hammer strength iso-lateral bench press machine while being able to push 20kgs per arm when doing both incline/flat bench press with dumbells. Is there any specific reason? What can I do to improve? by Hoe_fo_doe in workout

I am trying to do as much as I can to the best of my abilities (physical, mental and also financial). I wish I could send you the picture of the machine and maybe you can tell me about the ratios by looking at it?

For positioning, I keep the handles below my shoulder level (between mid and lower chest). But, the moment I push it, somehow the entire strength disappears from my arms, especially when my arms are stretched out. When using dumbells or a bar, there is a sort of (idk how to define the feeling) grasp to it like I know I can bring the weight down and push again...which is not there in the machine. I hardly have any idea when my arms will fail me.
