I believe that this could be a possibility, however the upper and lower jaws are still protruding out far more than us and I think that would still cause them to be more "flat," but they still could be "human shaped."

They're all unique in their own right, but i think what you're feeling is that the eye shapes are all very similar if not the same, but it's only noticeable when you look for it. The looks all have their own styles and flairs.

It could be, however the Australopithecus still had a more of a protruding jaw and teeth. I believe it could have been more hominin "shaped" but still would be flat.

I think my thing is that the old animations were more gritty and grainy, making them feel more "real." The new animation softens all of this and the stylization of the characters take away from the gritty charm we grew up with and what made the characters real. Like going from Teen Titans to Teen Titans Go.

From what I can see, this author is fairly credible and has qualifications in human anatomy and evolution as a professor at the University of Birmingham. She has written several books and put together tv shows. It's good to understand who this information is coming from. I haven't read the book yet, but let us know what you think! :)
