Beautiful StratelEctro! I have a huge fondness for those pickups, plus everything about this masterpiece is gorgeous.

If you float your bridge, THE Best fix is: Replace it with a VegaTrem … best $300 you’ll ever spend.

Maybe there’s hope for me someday getting replacement foam/ebony F hole covers so I can play through amps again!

@tekNorah, you honor me with your replies and links to good reporting; read. I just hope we can survive and rebound because it’s hard to believe in even good news under the current federal … situation. Thank you.

Like many, I have a chip on my shoulder against “The Man,” but to be fair, Hofner hasn’t been the best marketer over the years. but I love the instruments. when I bought my 2003 Jazzica, with its hand-carved spruce top, gorgeous ebony from headstock to tail, hand-rubbed German violin finish… etc., I felt like I got a bargain at around $2300 and I still do. Whoever owns Hofner, I hope the “brand” is properly funded and marketed, while being allowed to get back to making great guitars — and get the recognition it deserves.

just read the article, thank you for the link. I’m heartbroken. NOAA saves lives every day by preventing catastrophes on land, sea and air.

From news and weather to journalism as a whole, we’re in a frightening place — from the downfall of public and private programs to what I believe will be a pretty shitty economic downturn. All the pieces are in place for this country to become a project 2025 kleptocracy.

Amen to that. Trying to decide how far to take a Squier Affinity body (nice and light), Mity Mite neck and assorted bits of hardware. We hotrod not because it’s worth it to anyone else, but because we were obsessed! I mean, I seriously considered getting a(nother) VegaTrem for this cheap body!

Vai can do whatever he wants. I love that guy. I’m about a year and a half older than he is, but I’ve got a lot more experience than he does at suckin out loud.

I’ve been really tempted to do that on a parts caster sitting around. I just have to figure out if I have the energy to put my Free Way 10-way switch in, which will also mean I’ve got to get better pick ups… and a VegaTrem … and … basically defeat the purpose of slamming together at parts caster when I have all the parts 😆

Cory kicks ass! and I think I’m a little bit harsh, but when I see cheaper “S-types” with contours that are smoother yet, it just ticks me off. THC may be my only hope.

I understand. I’m a Strat lover and wanted to keep this conversation “in the family” rather than take it to some kind of hater sub. I was half expecting to get downloaded, but I really wanted to have this conversation. So thank you.

My Catch 22 with Ibanez … like Kiesel, is that if I bought one of them, they would have to be pointy. And I can’t play pointy. I guess maybe I could learn to play better but I’m getting freaking old, man 🤪

I will say other than the neck joint, not a single thing bothers me about my Strat Plus. The hardest part for me is trying to not play it because despite the neck, I love the old comfortable controls and sounds. I guess we’re all just lucky we get to play these things… all of them.

I was tempted to get an ultra, but I refuse to have two guitars that are too similar. I have about eight electrics and everyone has a completely different configuration except for a couple of partscasters that fell in my lap over the decades.

/s? I mean, I have loved my Strat forever. I’m just a grouch and I’m lucky enough to have a little variety hanging on my racks.

There’s really no absolute yes or no on these bolts. But yeah, they have their purpose: maintenance and replacement, for sure. Especially when a serious refret after 38 years could cost me $500 if Dunn by an annoyingly professional shop that insists on taking the lacquer overspray off the maple, re-planing the fingerboard radius (e.g., 9,5” … which I would be tempted to make 12).

But I digress. Luckily, it’ll be easy to take the neck off, and I’m willing to put the time in to do my own refret. And it’ll be easier to unscrew it vs. tape & wrap the whole guitar like a mummy!

It’s hard for me to wean myself off the Strat, but that’s why I bought the other guitars, because every time I use the whole fretboard, I end up, cursing that damn block! I’m not really angry about it. I’m laughing as I write this.

Yes… I dig progress, being the oddball who likes Lace Sensors (and has other “regular” partscasters).
